If I have a food weakness—its bakeries. When I have traveled Eu- rope and the Middle East, I have been tempted, allured, and drawn to the smells and tempting tastes of yummy breads, pastries, and treats. When we lived in the Pacific Northwest, we discovered a doughnut shop with made-fresh-daily options. Bear claws, crullers, long johns, eclairs, jellied, frosted, glazed, sprinkled, and tradition- alA just a half mile from there was another bakery with fresh assort- ments of breads, muffins, and scones. Needless to say, I made many trips to both. Often times is Dominic and Siena were with me and we would eat a doughnut or a portion of an olive oil and rose- mary loaf of bread that was still warm from the oven. The savory flavors exploding on our tastebuds caused silence in the car as we enjoyed the treats. Those experiences remind me of another bakery—Gods bakery, where He invites us to Taste and see [as if for the first time!] that the Lord is good(Psalm 34:8). Sometimes in our spiritual lives we lose the pleasure, delight, and satisfaction of our Christian experi- ence. Perhaps its too salty, or too spicy, or too bland. But Jesus calls us to taste Him again, and see just how Sweet the experience can be. I pray that as you worship with us today, that your experience will be fresh, warm, and sweet. There is a phenomenon that continues to grow in almost every country of the world: It’s called the Coffee Shop. What is it that continually draws people to small, usually crowded places, to purchase over-priced beverages? Is it that people just love giving $5 for a cup of coffee, or is there something more? The coffee shop has become a center of influence in today’s society. What can we learn from this Phenomenon? In this new teaching series from Pastor Ben, we will study the Scriptures to see how Jesus introduced an authentic spirituality and Christian experience that people gladly stood in line for. We will make our church a center of influence as we discover what God is brewing to satisfy that deep, down spiritual longing--and He won’t even make us stand in line.
