M: my passion and research led to learning that tactility has the most powerful impact on human emotion,

Page 3: FEEL Presentation.3.26

M: our skin contains receptors that directly elicit emotional responses such as pain or love or…

B: happiness. from a survey that i conducted the main conclusion is that people find their moments of happiness from

Page 5: FEEL Presentation.3.26

B: being surrounded by people. the relationships we build with others provide love through friendship and family while strengthening self appreciation.

tactility + happy = -fectionp a i r

M: we both were interested in making environmental pieces andonce we realized our objectives aligned, we decided to join forces to create an installation that utilizes both of our topics of interest

B: just call us brionica

Page 8: FEEL Presentation.3.26

M: and even from an early age brionica has always been hands on, and full of joy. B: and we want to spread it with the world.

how can an interactive installation utilizing technology & design provoke happiness / positively affect a person’s immediate emotional state?

M: so our question is…how can an interactive installation utilizing technology and design provoke happiness / positively affect a person’s immediate emotional state?

B: together we FEEL that FEEL encompasses both the idea of touch and a positive emotional response.

to get people to live in that particular moment as they are educated on the benefits of interactive design and the importance of human connection through touch

objective

B: we want to get people to live in that particular moment as they are educated on the benefits of interactive design andthe importance of human connection through touch

parts instructional + educational branded system interactive table take away that shows user feedback

M: Our project has 3 components,an instructional & educational branded system an interactive tableand take aways that give us user feedback

Page 14: FEEL Presentation.3.26

B: so for our branded system we want to graphically represent different sources of positive emotion through shapes, color and sound.

Page 15: FEEL Presentation.3.26

B: The installation would engage the audience, like these examples, while incorporating the visual system

Page 16: FEEL Presentation.3.26

M: an arduino allows our installation to be interactive with conductive materials

Page 17: FEEL Presentation.3.26

B: first we went into creating our branded system, we started by exploring the brand mark

Page 18: FEEL Presentation.3.26

a touch of happy.

M: here’s our solution, ‘cuz puns.

Page 19: FEEL Presentation.3.26

B: where we’ve got the “insides” like inner personal feelings, and then the “outsides” for your sense of feeling. and boom, together all of the feels

stress-free

M: we then developed our shape system for our sources of happiness. from our research and answers from the survey. we’ve narrowed it down to ten. so we have faith, love, accomplishments, creativity, stress-free-ness, meaningful work, family and relationships, beer, optimism, and last but not least puppies and kittens.

B: we wanted to stay true to the psychological science of happiness but be light hearted and playful with the inclusion of beer and puppies.

Page 21: FEEL Presentation.3.26

M: We have take aways, cards, to extend the interactive experience beyond the installation. B: they also serve to define our system, and prompt people to think about their meanings of happiness.

Page 22: FEEL Presentation.3.26

M: And we can also use them to measure feedback of what makes our audience the happiest by how many are left over, and possible hashtag uses.

Page 23: FEEL Presentation.3.26

B: these were some of our initial ideas for the installation by having a podium and wall mounted interactive piece.

Page 24: FEEL Presentation.3.26

B: but then we realized it would be better to have a table installation, for construction sake and also the fact that it would provoke collaboration more prominently. our FEEL logo stands up vertically in the middle of the board serving as a visual invite to our table.

Page 25: FEEL Presentation.3.26

M: the sound shapes are dispersed around the logo encouraging people to connect with each other in order to reach the other side of the table. Both sides of the table have interactive points.
