Idea 1 – Body Image

Strengths Weaknesses- Sensitive subject so people are able to relate to it- Relevant to today because it affects younger generation- Well thought out ideas in terms of presentation - Relatable to the target audience because of the people that are in the documentary- Conducted good research so you have something to link/look back to for help when filming - Contacted a Body Image campaign and knows how she's going to include them in the documentary (interviews) - Has the questions that are going to be asked already

- Although it's been said that it appeals to everyone younger audience may only be interested in the documentary - Has it been covered too much in the past - Predictable idea - Too much going on visually with the idea of twos stories; might be confusing to the audience - What makes it different to the other Body Image documentaries?- May look to similar to other documentaries that are out there with the same topic

This documentary will be investigating the reason people have such low body and confidence and why they think they feel the way. I’ll explore the possible reason why people think there body has to look a certain way in order to show people that regardless of your body shape you're beautiful.

Opportunities Threats - Main Interview with Ellie Barnes - Main Interview with someone from a Body Image Campaign- GPS or Advertisers - Could go to a lingerie shop for e.g.. Victoria Secret and interview a worker/manager on how they feel about body image and their ‘self conscious’ customers - Could interview men as well as women about body image and they may expect their ideal boyfriend/girlfriend's body should look like - Incorporate the idea of ‘Social Media’ and ‘Bullying’ with this idea and how they play a role on its affects on people

-People may be too scared to talk about their insecurities on the camera- How will it be visually interesting? -How will it protect vulnerable people that are interviewed? - Being that this documentary has been done before what different approach are you going to do?- The documentary may divert to much from the actual topic due to the storyline within it -What will you do if the person becomes too scared or insecure to address certain issues about their body?

Idea 2 – Bullying

Strengths Weaknesses- Great Variety of names chosen

for the title of the documentary - Good secondary research - Good reference to music; non-

diegetic sound - Serious issue being addressed

that isn’t usually spoken about- Also showing the elp that is

available to those being bullied - Promotes anti-bullying

(underlying issue)

- How will you make this idea original?

- too broad of an idea?- Everybody has already been

educated on bullying/telling people things they already know

- Man interview isn’t interesting enough/ may be heard to get the interview

- Not enough research done to be applied to the actual documentary

This idea is going to focus on the different types of bullying and why people bully others. It’ll explore students stories and how it’s affected them and also offer help to those who have been bullied. This documentary will promote anti-bullying.

Opportunities Threats - Use if creative filming in

reconstruction playing with focus and effects

- Maybe focus on the bully and why they do it? New angle which’ll make it different to everyone else’s out there

- To travel around to other schools to find out their policies and rules about bullying

- Learn students stories about bullying which makes the documentary more interesting and personal

- Shine a light on bullying (create awareness)

- Help bullying campaigns that may not be known have some attention

- Bullying is a wide topic so it may be hard to cover all its aspects and make sure it stays within the 5-15 minute timeframe without getting boring

- People scared to come forward and share their stories

- Unreliability in students telling their stories because sometimes they may be too shy to the camera

- Getting permission for the kids to be in the video

Idea 3 – Misrepresentation of Muslims

Strengths Weaknesses- Social experiment brings an

interesting twist- Excellent Idea; word

association - great idea- Great focus group responses- Focusing on something that no

one speaks out about- Easy to film because of the

area that she lives in. She lives in an area that is predominantly muslim so sh’ll be able to get people in the documentary

- Sensitive topic - Not specific with who she’s

going to film/ if it would be possible

- Not done enough research (sounds rushed and not thought out)

- Not enough content about the actual topic

This documentary is going to be talking about the misrepresentation of muslims in today’s society and why people treat them this way. I’ll be exploring society's attitudes and if it contributes to the way on which they are treated

Page 7: Feedback for Initial Ideas Mary Callisto

Opportunities Threats - Social Experiment has a lot of

potential- Have physical evidence to

show people attitudes towards muslims

- Talk about issue that aren’t usually addressed

- Interview with someone that is apart of the ‘ Muslims against Extremism’’ will play a crucial role in the documentary because I’ll be able to get both perspectives

- Need to mind how it's presented so it doesn’t come off as disrespectful

- The social experiment might go wrong

- The social experiment may take away from the seriousness of the actual topic

Idea 4 – Social Media‘think before you click’

Strengths Weaknesses

- Very current issue - Highlighting one specific

aspect of social media instead of all of the content

- Very well thought out in terms of presentation

- Affects the majority of people because everyone is linked to a social media account

- Has an underlying message which is to think before you click

- How will it be visually appealing?

- Is there enough content? - Do you have a social media

expert?- Not an interesting enough

topic

This documentary is about social media and the whole idea of thinking before clicking (sending messages in and out). It’ll give statistics about the number of people that make the common mistake of posting a picture or making a comment on social media without realising its consequences

Page 9: Feedback for Initial Ideas Mary Callisto

Opportunities Threats - Interview with the social media

expert - Share stories of those who

have made the mistake

- Confidentiallity of the people- Finding a social media

expert to be in my documentary
