Feed Safe NZ
What is it? A Quality Assurance Accreditation
programme for the NZ Stock Feed Industry.
Central aspect is the NZFMA Code of Manufacturing Practice.
Companies accredited by an independent third party auditor – AsureQuality
The Audit ProcessAn audit plan based on the Code.Trialled in different size mill
operations around NZ.Applicable to blenders as well as
manufactured feed mills.4 auditors throughout NZ who will
regularly meet to ensure calibration.
Annual visits unless problems to rectify.
Audit ReportProblems Minor – by next audit.Moderate – within 30 days.Major - immediate action.Report to the company and
report outcomes to NZFMA.NZFMA will endorse FeedSafe NZ
certification based on audit results.
FeedSafe NZ Logo NZFMA Executive Committee making
decision. Option of a logo with a defined border to
show clearly on bagged products and promotional material – green tick.
The logo can only be used by certified sites.
All certified sites will be listed on the NZFMA website.
Can be on products, advertising, delivery vehicles and promotional material.
Promotions Other uses of logos – website; email footers;
business cards; site internal and external signage; sales staff; vehicles; feed bags; product leaflets; advertising; staff uniforms
Logo Style Guide will be provided – will define colours & measurements.
FeedSafeNZ fact sheet – “What is FeedSafe NZ.”
FeedSafeNZ Talking Points –aimed at sales staff. Sets out benefits of FeedSafeNZ certification and why consumers should only buy from certified mills.
Key Documents Will be in a defined section of the NZFMA
website: www.nzfma.org.nz Objectives & Outcomes – includes:
responsibilities of auditors, feed manufacturers and NZFMA.
Audit checklist – used by auditors and companies to assess compliance with the NZFMA COP.
Logos in PDF, JPEG format. Complaint Procedure to address
complaints by one manufacturer against another.

Does NZFMA move to a requirement that can only be a NZFMA Member if all sites are FeedSafe NZ certified?
