that the legal envi-ronment within which IT professionals and practitioners operate was changing day by day and was very important issue in which MUET has taken lead to organ-ise the workshop. A statement of pur-pose (SoP), or per-sonal statement, is a brief and focused essay about one's career or research goals, and is frequently required for applicants to universi-ties, graduate schools, and professional schools. aims and aspirations. It is a good way for an applicant to communi-cate with the admissions committee. Most admis-sions committees look for a short, crisp and ideologically clear SoP.

It is also known as a Graduate School Essay. Other universities some-times call it a "Letter of

Intent", "Letter of Inten-tion", "Statement of In-tent", "Statement of In-tention", "Statement of Interest", "Goals State-ment", "Personal State-ment", "Personal Narra-tive" or "Application Es-say". The name can be just a name but often it influences content and length of the essay. Every university has its own regulations, but

most of the time it will be 1-2 pages.

To write Statement of purpose or Personal Statement you should include following things.

1- Why do you find Elec-tronic Engineering (or any other field in which you plan to continue your studies) interesting.

2. What you did during your first degree. Ex-

plain your thesis details and other projects that you carried and write about major subjects.

3. What do you expect to achieve in the univer-sity you are applying. These are common things like for example you can write "you hope to continue your studies in your field of interest with especial focus on XYZ". You can also do some homework on the university's website and

find out if there is any special research group or professor(s) working close to your field of interest. If you find some then you can write that you are interested to work with them.

4. Finally you should write what you have in mind after you achieve your de-gree/goals. Things like whether you will continue to stay in this country for fur-ther education or career or you plan to go back to your country and pursue ca-reer in academics or in industry.
