3. Based on what you have learned the last 2 classes, where do you think you fall on the political and economic spectrum (right or left?) Why do you think this – what ideas make the most sense?

I think I fall more on the left because I agree with the idea of “freedom from” rather than “freedom to”. I agree with the idea of what’s best for the group.

4. Complete the Vote Compass survey on the CBC website to find out its recommendation for which party platform you most support (according to their question set).

Paste 2 screenshots below of your position on the economic and political spectrum.

a. Your overall left vs. right position.b. Choose 3 issues to set as “important” and recalculate your position.

5. Go to the Globe and Mail’s website and read through Party Platforms highlights on 10 key issues for Canadians.

a. If you were able to vote in this election which party would you vote for and why? You must, make reference to 3 key issues written about in the Globe and the component of your party’s platform you most agree with. Explanations of why these ideas appeal and make sense to you must be included.

I think I would vote for the Liberal party because I agree with most of their platform. I would prefer to vote NDP though, but I think if we had a NDP party as our leader we would go broke. I agree with their platforms the most because they are putting a lot of money into healthcare and are making post-secondary more affordable. They also would increase support to the national crime prevention centre. I like that they put more money into healthcare because it is an important aspect for me. Making post-secondary more affordable is also important because the more people who go, get better paying jobs and that would be best for the group. Lastly I like that they would increase support to the national crime prevention centre because I feel a crime-free society is the best society! The only thing that bothers me about the NDP party is I’m unsure about where they are getting their money from. This is why I feel that if we put them into parliament we would go broke. Ultimately, I would vote Liberal because they have the second best platforms.
