February Newsletter
Pine Ridge Elementary PTO For more information, check out our website at prepto.weebly.com
Please join us on Facebook by searching Pine Ridge Elementary PTO
January is gone and we are already into a very busy February, full of
activities! Parent Teacher Conferences are this month, along with
Young Rangers Night, our Valentine’s Day “Love My Community”
Celebrations and the 100th Day of school on February 13th. We have
a short mid-winter break on February 20th and Pine Ridge Night with
the Grand Rapids Griffins is on STAR WARS Night at the Van Andel
Arena!
Our next general PTO meeting will be Friday, February 24th at 9am in
the media center. We will be serving breakfast, going over upcoming
PTO business and Media Center Specialist, Sara Zietz, will be giving
a short introduction on the purchases made with the proceeds from
last year’s auction. Please feel free to join us. This is a great way to
meet other PR parents and find out details of the PTO, like how/where
to volunteer, open positions and how the proceeds from our PTO
events are spent to support and enrich our children’s education. Our
meetings are family friendly, so bring your little ones if you would like!
Another big THANK YOU to Trish McGovern and our HRPs who are
all working so hard on Valentine’s Day Celebrations right now. Would
you like to help them out? Check your directory to find out who your
child’s HRP is and get in touch! HRPs are very happy to have
volunteers!
Check out the PTO website at www.prepto.weebly.com for more
information on all of our PTO events!
Peace, Love and Happiness!

Come One, Come All, to the Pine Ridge Carnival
Pizza, ice cream, prizes, an inflatable obstacle course, you can even
tape Mrs. James to a wall!
Make sure you save the date and join
us on Saturday, March 11, from 11a.m.
– 3 p.m., for food, fun and games at
this year’s Carnival. The Carnival is
run completely by Pine Ridge parents
and proceeds support countless PTO
programs.
You will be receiving ticket pre-order forms in February. Save money by
ordering tickets ahead of time instead of on the day of the Carnival.
More than one hundred volunteers are needed to make this event a
success. We need help setting up the night before, running games and
the redemption center, and cleaning up
after the event. Please consider signing up
for a single shift or both shifts. High
school students looking for service hours
are welcome, as are grandmas, grandpas
and anyone else who would like to help.
Be on the lookout for a SignupGenius link
to volunteer
Paper forms will be available in the office for anyone who does not have
convenient access to the Internet.

If you have Box Tops, Labels for Education, Aunt Millie's School Spirit, or Tyson labels collecting in your pantry or drawer, please turn them by Thursday, Feb. 23rd to your student's teacher. The class that collects the most Box Tops will enjoy a pizza party with delicious pizza from JT's. Last
October, the leading class brought in 1,059. Hopefully, the winning class will surpass this goal during our next collection!! Please remember to trim all Box Tops along the red dotted lines and turn in UNEXPIRED Box Tops. The Box Tops Committee spends extra hours just trimming the
labels. Please be considerate of their time and plan to trim the Box Tops. Thanks for your cooperation!!
Come One, Come All to the last Box Top Counting Party of the year!! The Counting Party is planned for Thursday, Feb. 23rd in the media center from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Please drop in
anytime time! Any and all help will be appreciated even if it is only for a short time!! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Box Tops Across America" Continues....So far
we have received Box Tops from10 states (Illinois, Kansas, Wisconsin, North Dakota, Ohio, Massachusetts, New York, Florida,Arizona, and Nevada.) Please continue to reach out to family and friends throughout the U.S.
Our goal is to receive Box Tops from all 50 states by the end of the year. Reach out by email, text, or mail and ask a relative or friend to send in just a few Box Tops with a note stating your child's name and teacher. The envelope should be addressed to Pine Ridge Elementary PTO, 3250 Redford Dr. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. This is a wonderful way for the students to correspond with others while bolstering their writing skills. The 2 classes that receive envelopes from the most states will receive an ice cream treat. As of the end of October, Mrs. Dood's class was in the lead with Mrs. Gerst's, Mrs. Morris's, and Mr. Kornoely's class following closely behind! The students that participate in the contest will receive a coupon for a free scoop of ice cream from Baskin Robbins. In order to receive one, Pine Ridge must receive an envelope posted marked from one of the 50 states. Please help our school achieve this goal while raising funds for the PTO. Ten cents per Box Top adds up quickly!!! Thanks for your cooperation and support!
