Campbelltown City boasts pristine bushland, unspoilt waterways and prolific wildlife – all within a stone’s throw of our urban centres.
The Georges and Nepean Rivers, which help to naturally define our local area, also provide limitless opportunity for getting outdoors and connecting with nature. Whether it’s quietly bird-watching or spotting platypus by the creek, ripping down some serious mountain biking trails, or set-your-own-pace activities like swimming, trekking and fishing − it’s all right here in our collective backyard!
So whether you’re into getting hands on with one of our free environmental workshops, getting creative at our arts centre or being part of a local, national or international environmental event, this environmental program is for you!
The calendar is divided up into four sections that detail what events, workshops, activities and environmentally significant dates are occurring from January to June 2018.

We are fortunate to live in an area with abundant natural beauty, including pristine bushland and meandering waterways.
If you have a passion for the outdoors and would like to know more about local waterways, birds, insects, plants and wildlife, and pick up some new skills while you’re at it, then why not join one of our Bushcare volunteer groups?
We are always looking for enthusiastic residents to join our Bushcare program to help rejuvenate bushland areas of Campbelltown. You don’t need experience – we will provide you with all the training you need.As a Bushcare volunteer, you will do your bit for the environment while rubbing shoulders with interesting and like-minded people. Bushcare groups participate in activities such as tree planting, erosion control, litter removal, weed management, and of course, wildlife spotting.
There are currently Bushcare groups operating at the following locations:
• Campbelltown Golf Course, Glen Alpine• Community Nursery – Council Depot, Minto• Georges River Corridor, Kentlyn• John Kidd Reserve, Blair Athol• Milton Park/Redfern Creek, Macquarie Fields• Noorumba Reserve, Rosemeadow• Scattergood Reserve, St Helens Park• Simmos Beach Reserve, Macquarie Fields• Smiths Creek, Ruse• Quirk Reserve, Bradbury• Panorama Estate, Glenfield
Simply visit campbelltown.nsw.gov.au/bushcare to find out how you can become involved in Bushcare.

Dharawal Indigenous Guided Walks Discover the Dharawal National Park and learn about Indigenous heritage on this guided walking tour. Enjoy a wander with an Aboriginal Discovery Ranger, as you take a fresh look at the landscape from a Koori perspective. Your guide will share Indigenous stories while showing you the park’s waterfalls, steep-sided sandstone gorges, scenic waterholes, rock shelters and demonstrating how native plants were used for food and medicine. This is a medium grade walk, so a good level of fitness and mobility is required.
Bookings are essential and places are strictly limited. Tours are available the second Saturday of every month, between February and November. The times and dates are listed in this calendar.
Payment is $10 and is required upon booking.
All bookings are made online.
