This seminar series is designed to offer specialized presentations covering various amusement rides and devices
regulated under the Pennsylvania Amusement Ride Safety Act and the New Jersey Carnival and Amusement Rides
Safety Act .
Is the Pennsylvania Amusement Ride Safety Seminar Accredited?
YES! Presentations are approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, Ride and Measurement Standards
for all license categories, new applicants and license renewals.
Is the training accepted for the New Jersey RCMT program?
YES! Training approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture is also accepted by the New Jersey
Department of Community Affairs for the Recognized Certified Maintenance Technician (RCMT) program.
Is any testing offered at the Seminar?
YES! The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture will offer tests for all license classifications.

Who chooses which presentations I attend?
YOU DO! Presentations are not pre assigned with a “one size fits all” mind set. You get to chose which of the
scheduled presentations would most benefit you and/or your organization.
No Kidding! I get to pick which presentations I want to take?
YES! You can attend any of the scheduled presentations offered at the seminar. Please refer to the enclosed chart
for more information on the training hours required for your particular license.
What happens if for instance, I don’t own any Go Karts. Can I still take the Go Kart presentations?
YES! You get to chose which presentations would most benefit you and/or your organization.
What happens if a presentation is full? Will I get “bumped” into a presentation I don’t want to take?
NO WAY! There is no preregistration for presentations. The Holiday Inn Harrisburg-Hershey offers plenty of space
to seat participants in the seminar meeting rooms.
Who are the presenters?
The volunteer presenters are recognized industry professionals, leaders, regulators, owner-operators, suppliers,
manufacturers, and experts in various aspects of amusement ride and public event safety. The presenters represent
a wide variety of viewpoints not just the views of any one particular organization or entity.
What about inflatable amusement rides?
In cooperation with the Pennsylvania Equipment Rental Association (PERA), and the Responsible Operators of
Amusement Rentals (ROAR) the seminar series offers a two day Inflatable program at both the November and
February Seminars.
What if I am a rental company or FEC with inflatables plus other rides covered by the act?
The inflatable presentation may be combined with other presentations to meet your individual license requirement.
Remember, you pick the presentations that best meet your training needs.
What about zip lines and ropes courses?
Presentations are offered for extreme sports covering the various aspects of zip lines, challenge courses, ropes
course, climbing walls, trampolines, belay systems and mechanical bulls.

Presentations are offered covering the various aspects of portable ride inspection, maintenance and operations
What about haunted attractions?
The haunted house program continues to offer a variety of class room and hands on programs.
What about FEC’s?
Presentations are offered for Go Karts, Climbing W alls, Harnessed Trampolines, Trampoline Courts, Haunted Houses,
Inflatable Rides, Simulators, Kiddie Rides, Amusement Rides & Mid Sized Coasters.
What about water parks?
The program continues to offer a variety of topics unique to the water park industry.
What about PDA Public Swimming Pools Pesticide Applicator - Re-certification Credits and/or Core Credits?
Some presentations in the water park series are eligible for PA Department of Agriculture Public Swimming Pools
Pesticide Applicator Re-certification Credits and/or Core Credits.
What about large amusement parks?
Additional presentations have been added covering a wide range of topics for both steel and wooden roller coasters.
A presentation on motion simulators has also been added.
Sounds like a lot of money to attend.
Still the best tuition bargain of any amusement industry safety seminar. For members of recognized industry trade
groups the advance registration fee is $199.00 for any two day program and $219.00 for any three day program.
What if I represent a faith based or charitable youth program?
The advance registration fee for faith based and charitable youth programs is $199.00 for any two day program and
$219.00 for any three day program.
When can I register?
Registration will begin April 1, 2014, the advance registration deadline is October 24, 2014 for the Fall program and
February 6, 2015 for the Spring Program.
How do I sign up?
Mail in your advance registration early! Registrations received after the above dates will be charged a late registration
fee. Registrations may be accepted at the door however an additional late registration fee will apply.
Is there a limit to the number of students that can attend?
Because of the multiple presentation format both the Fall and Spring seminar can easily accommodate up to 600
attendees each.
What about food?
Lunch will be provided daily. Lunch will be prepared under the direction of the Holiday Inn Resort executive chef.
Comments from last years attendees indicate the food was the best they had ever been served at a safety seminar.

Schedule: It is the policy of the Pennsylvania Amusement Ride Safety Seminar that seminar participants are free to chose thepresentations that are the most beneficial for your career path, job description, abilities, and employer benefit. Itis the sole responsibility of the participants to ensure they are taking the presentations that are appropriate for theirunique situation. Participants are not required to sign up for individual presentations in advance.
Requirements: The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Ride and Measurement Standards, Amusement RideDivision has approved this seminar for new and renewal amusement ride inspector license holders. It is yourresponsibility to ensure that: you create a schedule of presentations that best suits your needs, meets thedepartments requirements, all forms are properly filled out, attendance sheets are filled out, attendance is recorded,required paperwork is turned in at the end of the seminar, and the requirements of your particular license are met.
The department requires the following training for new applicants and renewal licensees:Qualified InspectorsAffiliated Qualified Inspector Minimum of 24 hours of presentations. You may attend any of the
presentations offered at the seminar.Limited Affiliated Qualified Inspector Minimum of 16 hours of presentations. You may attend any of the
presentations offered at the seminar.General Qualified Inspector Minimum of 48 hours of presentations. You may attend any of the
presentations offered at the seminar.**Consideration for in house training programs may be granted by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture uponwritten application to the department. Please contact the Bureau of Ride and Measurement Standards AmusementRide Division for more information.
Limited Programs: Limited Affiliated license programs are available for the following equipment types: Inflatables only, Water Slidesand Water Activity Equipment Only, Walk Through Attractions (Includes Haunted Attractions) Only, Go Karts &Bumper Boats Only, Extreme Sports (Climbing Walls & Harnessed Trampolines) Only, Retail Fireworks Only*. Course offerings are limited at the Fall program. Please consider the spring program for additional course offerings..
Participants: Registration is open to all amusement industry professionals. Examples include: Pennsylvania amusement rideinspectors, new license applicants, out of state jurisdictional inspectors, private inspectors, maintenance personnel,supervisors, manufacturers, operators, owners, suppliers, event staff, public safety officials, and other amusementindustry professionals. Participation by out of state amusement industry professionals and public safety officialsis encouraged and welcome. The seminar staff reserves the right to refuse admittance to any person or group, without cause or notice, byrefunding the advance registration fee.
Cell Phones: Please turn off or put on vibrate all cell phones, pagers, PDA’s, watch alarms, lap tops, & text messaging devicesduring meetings and presentations.
Smoking: Smoking is not permitted inside the Holiday Inn classrooms, hallways or public areas.
Alcohol: The possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages is not permitted during presentations.
Special Needs: Participants who have disabilities as defined by the American Disabilities Act that prevent participation in thestandard presentation process should inform the seminar staff when they register for the seminar, no less than thirty(30) days prior to the commencement of the seminar. When registering, please provide a brief written identificationof the impairing condition and a request for specific adjustments to the usual presentation process. This informationwill be used solely to assist with the necessary accommodations, but be kept confidential otherwise.
Registration: The registration period for the seminar begins at least 60 days prior to the scheduled seminar. Please return youradvance registration forms by the due date. Payment must accompany your registration. Registration formsreceived late or registration the day of the seminar will be charged the appropriate fee. Prepaid registration feesare non-refundable.
Hours: Presentations start promptly at 8:00am each morning. Presentations end at 6:00pm.
Clothing: During the seminars, some of the hands on presentations may be held outdoors. .The seminars are held inNovember and February when the weather is still unpredictable. Participants are encouraged to wear warmcomfortable clothing and bring the appropriate coats, jackets, hats and gloves. Temperatures can vary greatly. Rain& snow conditions are possible.

CEU’S: For those participants that successfully complete their individual training requirement, Continuing Education Credits(CEU’s) may be available. A CEU certificate may be required for continuing education credit by various industrycertification agencies, employers, and colleges. It is the sole responsibility of the participant to ensure thatproper application is made and the curriculum is approved by the various agencies. employers, colleges,etc. that require verification of continuing education (CEU’s).
Testing: Testing by outside entities such as The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, ACCT, NWSA, PARTS, HHA,andROAR, may be offered to seminar participants. These programs are offered as a service to seminar participants. Please contact the testing entity directly for more information concerning their particular program requirements. Anyadditional fees for testing are due at the time of testing and are to be paid directly to the testing entity.
Admittance The seminar staff reserves the right to refuse admittance and/or remove from the premises, any person,organization, association or group, for any reason, with or without cause. PA Inspector Renewals and Testing InformationPennsylvania Amusement Ride Safety Seminar - Holiday Inn Grantville, Pennsylvania
November 4-6, 2014 -and- February 24-26, 2015
PENNSYLVANIA AFFILIATED QUALIFIED INSPECTOR TESTING & RENEWALS
If you are taking the test:
1. Call Natalie at (717) 787-2291 for study material or visit the Bureau web site for a download of the
study guide for anyone taking an Inspectors Exam.
2. Review the study guide prior to attending the seminar.
3. All inspectors must pre register for testing with the department.
4. Please mail to the Bureau of Ride and Measurement Standards:
a. Completed Inspector application
b. Separate check for $50.00 made payable to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5. All inspectors must check in at the state registration table - day of seminar for photographs and
processing.
6. SAVE TIME!! Email a current head and shoulders photograph of the applicant to Natalie Behe
prior to the seminar at [email protected]
Inspector Renewals:

The Pennsylvania Amusement Ride Safety Seminar Series is approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture,
Ride and Measurement Standards for all Pennsylvania Amusement Ride Inspector Certification renewals.
If your Pennsylvania Amusement Ride Inspectors Certification expires anytime in the next three years, attendance at
either the Fall or Spring Pennsylvania Amusement Ride Safety Seminar
will extend your certification by three calendar years.
