Dear Bishop Stang Families and Friends,

As we begin the second semester, we continue our special focus on the 2019-20 school theme, “Diverse Gifts, One Spirit.” On Tuesday, February 4, we will have a Half-Day schedule for faculty and staff to receive an in-service training from the Mas-sachusetts Partnership for Youth (MPY) on “cultural competency.” The next day, Wednesday, February 5, a MPY speaker will lead an all-school assembly on the same topic for our student body.

We believe that no matter what our differences are, as God’s children we are called to love and respect one another just as God loves us. With that said, we also need to learn the skills necessary to help us show an authentic appreciation for diversity in a rapidly changing world. That is why our Cultural Competency and Neurodiversity programs this year are so important. In keeping with our Catholic mission, respecting diversity in practical terms is an essential way that at Bishop Stang we continue to “make known the goodness of God.”

God Bless,

Peter Shaughnessy President/Principal

NHS Selection Process Begins Nominees to be notified in February

The process for selecting new members to the Sr. Teresa Trayers, SND Chapter of the Nation-al Honor Society begins in February. Students who are academically eligible will receive a letter in homeroom from the chapter advisor informing them of their nomination. This letter will likely be sent to students during the last week of February. Nominees then meet with the advisor who outlines the process for building a portfolio which will be submitted to the NHS Faculty Council. The council will review portfolios during the month of March. Upon comple-tion, a vote for membership is taken. A simple majority vote is required for membership. Stu-dents selected for membership will be inducted into our chapter in May of this year. For fur-ther information please use this link: https://www.bishopstang.org/academics/national-honor-society. The NHS chapter Bylaws detail the nomination and selection process.
