We’ve never had a Mardi Gras party at the U Club, so we’re pulling out all the stops for our very first one! Join the University Club of Albany Foundation and the Krewe of Bever- wyck on Friday, February 13th for The Mardi Gras Celebration to Raise the Roof. The evening will feature a cocktail reception from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. with traditional New Orleans party food - red beans and rice, shrimp remoulade, muffalettas - and cash/sign bar. Drink specials, music and decorations will transport guests to the French Quarter. Costumes and masks are encouraged! Then join us in the dining room at 7:00 p.m. for a special concert by the Dylan Perillo Orchestra. Featuring horns, woodwinds, bass, guitar and drums, DPO is a self-described “colorful ensemble” of people and instru- ments celebrating the beginnings of jazz from 1920s to the 40s. Their influ- ences include everything from Billie Holiday to Louis Armstrong, Al Bowlly to Annette Hanshaw, Coleman Hawkins to Lester Young, and the contemporary artists that continue the tradition. What’s the Krewe of Beverwyck? Club President Colleen Ryan has long had a fondness for the City of New Orleans: its food, music, literature, architecture and traditions. She and her husband Eric Hoppel honey- mooned there in December 1997. But even before that, in 1996, they began the tradition of the Krewe of Beverwyck with a Mardi Gras celebration on Dove Street! In fact, many members of the University Club are part of the Royal Lineage of the Krewe of Beverwyck; with Eric serving as King in 1996, Colleen as Queen in 2002, Chris Burke as King in 2006, Mark Brogna as King in 2007, Richard Conti as King in 2010, Monica Mahaffey as Queen in 2011, Bonnie Mariano as Queen and Tim Varney as King in 2012, and Dave Hochfelder as King in 2013. After taking 2014 to regroup, the Krewe of Beverwyck is ready to move this legendary party to the University Club. We are extremely grateful to Club Board member Tim Var- ney for footing the bill for the fantastic Dylan Perillo Orchestra. During the concert, the King Cake will be served, and the Krewe of Beverwyck's King and Queen for 2015 will be revealed! We hope you'll join us for all the fun! There will be two levels of ticketing: General Admission $25 and Preferred Seating with table service during the concert $40. According to seriouseats.com, “the

Friday Fish Fry is as much a part of

the classic Wisconsin diet as beer,

weekly fish fry became a staple.”

brandy drink specials and crackers

and Merkt’s cheese (made in Wis-

consin, of course!). On special that

evening, the classic Wisconsin fish

ble bread and French fries or potato
