Participants should plan on the process tak- ing at least 40–50 minutes. Protect yourself and your stuff from robbery** USE YOUR EYES: Stay alert. Do not be distracted by phone calls, texts and iPod music. Make confident eye contact with strangers. Stay in lighted areas. Carry only what you need. Do not walk alone. If you have no one with whom to walk, use the Fast- and-Free Route 83 Campus Connector to go across campus, especially in the evening when it runs every 10–15 minutes. Protect your stuff from theft* USE YOUR LOCKS: Room, car, bike, gym locker, and all. Don’t leave your stuff unattended at the library, dining hall, Commons Plaza, cafe, or anywhere else. Register your computer and your bike with the VCU Police. Then, if they are lost and found, they can be returned to you. When parked, keep your car stuff out of sight — phone char- ger, power cords, toll-booth change, GPS, and even the sticky ring left on your window by your GPS. * “Theft” means taking your stuff when you are not there. Five thousand randomly selected VCU students will be invited to participate. These 5,000 selected stu- dents will receive an e-mail to their VCU accounts with their personal access codes.
