Prayer of Confession

Leader: God’s love has been shown to us in Jesus Christ, yet we

sometimes live as if that made no difference.

All: Compassionate God, we confess the times when we have

closed ourselves to your love. We cling to our fear, our

guilt, our self-hatred, rather than letting ourselves be

warmed and healed by your love. We close our hearts,

refusing to be channels of your love to others. We are

frozen like winter ice and snow. Forgive us, and give us

courage to trust you and let your love flow through us to

others; hear now our silent prayers…. Amen.

Song of Supplication “Change My Heart, O God” (sung 2 times)

Leader: This is the good news in Jesus Christ!

People: God loves us more than we love ourselves. God forgives

us, encourages us, and frees us to love others.

All: Thanks be to God.

Greeters today are Members of the 2016 Honduras Mission Team.

You can still fill out your Time & Talent survey, and let us know of your

interests in all areas of church life. Forms are available in the office and

The flowers in the sanctuary are donated

by Stan and Sharron Dreyer in honor of

and appreciation for Grace Church;

and in celebration of Stan and Sharron’s

48th anniversary and Don and Beth Dreyer

Kingston’s 15th anniversary.

NEXT SUNDAY!

Pastor Ben’s first day in the pulpit is next Sunday, February 26th.

A reception luncheon will follow in Wester Hall where you will be able to greet Pastor Ben and Amy personally.

Please bring a dessert already divided into portions to share.

And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of

them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! (Rom 10:15)

PSSST!... HERE’S THE PLAN!

Today, in the Narthex and in Wester Hall, there will be album pages where you can write a greeting and tell Ben and Amy what your hopes and dreams for them are. You can also write down your best advice for

newcomers to Northern Virginia–where the good restaurants are, who the trusted plumbers and electricians are, the potholes to avoid, etc.

Throughout the week, you can send your notes to Virginia in the office by e-mail ([email protected]) or snail-mail, and she will add them to the book. We will present it to Pastor Ben and Amy at the luncheon after worship next Sunday.

Dear Grace Friends,

“I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that has been given you in Christ Jesus…” (1 Corinthians 1:4)

I will never forget the glorious send-off you gave me on my last Sunday at Grace. Your words of appreciation, your incredibly generous and thoughtful gifts, and the many hugs and good wishes I received were a blessing beyond anything I could have imagined. I have already started transferring files from my clunky old laptop to the new one, and Deepak and I are looking forward with great anticipation to relaxing at The Homestead this spring, where we will undoubtedly raise a toast in your honor!

Thank you most of all for being my co-workers in ministry these past few years and sharing your faith, hope and love with me. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve God with you at Grace and in the Springfield community. Love and Blessings, Lisa
