Chocolate Fair reset for Sunday, February 17 (right after service)

Neither rain nor snow (once we shovel ourselves out) stays steadfast

chocolatiers from making their favorite treats — nor ardent chocoholics

from devouring them — especially in a good cause. OUUF’s Chocolate

Fair, cancelled last Sunday by the Big Snow, will take place this Sunday.

Cooks should bring their creations to our kitchen, and offer them at a separate table during

the social hour. Members and Friends can donate to “buy” some of the goodies. The “price”

will be left for donors to decide. Proceeds will go to Manna or to Sequim Cares. Chocolate

and charity: What a combination!

PENINSULA COMMUNITY DRUM CIRCLE.

Tuesday, February 26, 2019 from 6:30 - 8:30 PM.

(OUUF-sponsored monthly gathering) FREE

community drum circle gathering open to people of

all ages and ability levels. If you are new to drumming, come give it a try. If you are an

experienced drummer with great rhythm, we need you! Lots of drums & other percussion

are available to use. It's FUN. It's grounding & decreases stress. JOIN US!

LIBRARY NOTES: Are you looking for some different perspectives on

the Bible? OUUF has a large collection of Bible-related books that might

interest you. Asimov’s Guide to the Bible, by Isaac Asimov; The Born-

Again Skeptic’s Guide to the Bible, by Ruth Hurmence Green; and The

Gnostic Gospels, by Elaine Pagels are some examples. There is also a

large collection of traditional Bibles on the shelf, all available for

checkout on the honor system. Please don’t forget to put your choices in

the return basket on the library shelf when you are finished with them.

Geri Napier, OUUF Librarian, http://[email protected].

RESCHEDULED: On Sunday, April 14th, at 4pm, Joel Yelland,

baritone, will present "A Celebration of Russian Song", a recital of

songs in Russian with English supertitles, accompanied by Linda

Dowdell, piano. The first half will be classical opera arias and art

songs, and the second half will be folk music. For the second half,

Joel and Linda will be joined by Claire Martin on violin and

Maryann Tapiro on cello. The concert will take place at Olympic

UU Fellowship, 1033 N Barr Road between PA and Sequim. A reception with Russian food

will follow the performance.

REMINDER: It is very important and necessary to lock the building if you are

the last to leave. This past Monday morning the building was found to have

been left unsecured and it is assumed the last person to leave Sunday didn't lock

up. If you have any problem locking up, call the church number which is posted

by the key lock box. Thank you, Elinor Tennyson

Do you have a service to offer, an item to sell, give away, or looking

for something? Feel free to post a message on the OUUF Member and

Community bulletin board. The board is located on the wall to the right

as you enter the sanctuary and all postings are subject to management

review. If you have any questions, see Elinor Tennyson.

Once again, the UUA's General Assembly is within reasonable travelling distance for OUUF'ers, and it would

be wonderful to see a number of us taking advantage of that. General Assembly is inspiring in ways you can

only imagine, unless you've attended. After the 2015 General Assembly in Portland, OR:

* Joel Yelland was so inspired by the idea of a Contemplative Service, that he and Diane Hill-Dwyer started

what has become a beloved tradition here at OUUF.

* Dianne Whitaker met Bridget Laflin over lunch at GA. Dianne invited Bridget to speak at OUUF, and

Bridget became one of our cornerstone speakers.

* Bob Nuffer and Vivian Mulligan were so inspired by Rev. Allison Miller's Sunday Sermon entitled "Re-

Storying Hope," that they created and led successful workshops on "Reframing Your Story" at OUUF.

* Our attendees at the 2015 GA were taken by the beautiful Sunday Service hymn, "When Our Heart is in a

Holy Place." It wasn't well known at OUUF at the time, but has become a favorite.

* The Welcoming Ceremony Banner Parade at least indirectly inspired Gayla Nuffer to create OUUF's own

banner, which now hangs in the front of our sanctuary and which was televised at the 2016 General Assembly,

even though we were unable to attend that year.

The UUA and the Pacific Northwest District have multiple possibilities for advertising this year's GA.

Due to the crazy amounts of snow we’ve been receiving in Port Angeles and

Sequim, we’ve decided to cancel the letter delivering event tomorrow at

Kilmer’s office in Port Angeles. Here’s what you can do if you wrote a letter

intended for the Port Angeles visit:

1. Send your letter to Congressman KIlmer’s Washington D.C. at 1410

Longworth House Office Building, Washington D.C. 20515 2. If you wrote letters to Senator Cantwell send them here: 511 Hart

Senate Office Building, Washington D.C. 20515 3. If you wrote letters to Senator Murray send them here: 154 Russell

Senate Office Building, Washington D.C. 20510 4. If you only wrote a letter to Kilmer, I strongly suggest you write one to

our Senators as well! 5. Call their offices every day letting them know you sent a personal letter

regarding the Green New Deal Resolution. Ask them to contact you once they have received the letter.

6. Let’s make calls! Since we can’t be there in person tomorrow, call Rep. Kilmer’s office, as well as Senator Cantwell and Senator Murray’s offices asking them to become a co-sponsor of the Green New Deal resolution.

If you wrote a letter during the Port Angeles letter writing event, it will

be shipped to their DC offices on Tuesday, February 12th. We’ll apply

phone pressure until we know that every letter has been read!

There is still a visit planned at Derek’s Tacoma office on the 13th. Here are

the details:

When: February 13, 2019 @ 3:00PM

Where: 950 Pacific Avenue Suite 1230, Tacoma.

Event Link: Tell Congressman Derek Kilmer: We Need A Green New

Deal.

Carpool Page: https://www.groupcarpool.com/t/irkh90

Contact: Mike Ferguson (360) 565-6647

We need to keep the pressure on between now and February 26th! Call, e-

mail, and tweet our congressional delegation about becoming a co-sponsor

of the Green New Deal! Go to SunriseMovement.org/GND or click on the

contact links below.

Stay tuned about future actions and events! Until then, keep up the pressure

and stay warm!
