Wenatchee High School has partnered with an online tutoring service to provide students with another opportunity for 1-on-1 homework help. This service allows students to work with a tutor at any time during the day or night (24/7). The service provides support for over 40 subject areas including all AP courses, and you will find that Spanish speaking tutors are available in math, science and social studies.

When students login to the service, the amount of time they work with a tutor is deducted from the total hours that we have purchased. The time deducted is the same regardless of the subject area students choose, or the time of day students are accessing the service. So, we ask that the time is used wisely.

The service may be used on a computer, tablet or smartphone and all correspondence is recorded within their system for the purpose of student safety.

WHS Career Center Update

The deadline for submitting an application to three of our largest scholarship providers is less than a month away! The Washington Apple Education Foundation (WAEF) Scholarships and the Community Foundation of North Central Washington (CFNCW) Scholarships both have March 1 deadlines. The Washington State Opportunity Scholarship (WSOS) applications are due on February 28. If your student needs help completing the applications have them come to the Career Center during the school day or come to Mentor/Senior Night on Tuesdays in the WHS Library from 6-8 pm. Don’t leave the application submissions to the last minute! If your student is applying to a four-year university and they do not have Foreign Language credits they can take the STAMP Test if they are fluent in a foreign language. The test will be offered two more times this school year, Monday Feb. 25, and Monday, April 29. Tests are held in the Resource Lab and start at 8:00 am. To register for a test, students fill out a short form that is available in the Counseling Office, pay the fee and take the paperwork to Mrs. Murie in the main office to register.

Mentor/Senior Night will offer assistance with completing the Community Foundation of NCW Scholarship application on Tuesday, Feb. 19. Be sure to have your senior take advantage of this help. On Tuesday, March 19, Mentor/Senior Night will feature Wenatchee Valley College. Representatives from Admissions, CAMP, TRiO, and MESA will be available to answer questions if WVC is your student’s school of choice. Mentor/Senior Nights are Tuesdays from 6–8 pm in the WHS Library and Career Center.

STARS Engineering Scholars The Washington State Academic RedShirt (STARS) program supports engineering and computer science students from low-income, first-generation, and underserved backgrounds in navigating the transition to college-level engineering courses. STARS is a two-year program with a specialized curriculum designed to build learning skills and strengthen academic preparation for core math and science prerequisites. The Homework Center is beginning a new paper-editing service, allowing us to help students remotely. If you have students that would benefit from this extra editing assistance, they can share their google doc or email their paper to pantherhomeworkcenter@wenatcheeschools.org. One of our tutors, who specialize in English, will make editing comments within the next two Homework Center days (we are open Monday through Thursday).The purpose of this service is to refine students writing skills. We will not complete the assignment for them.
