STEWARDSHIP REFLECTIONS
“Brothers and sisters, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.” 1 CORINTHIANS 10:31 Do a quick check of your priorities. Where does God rank in that list? If He’s not first, you have some work to do. Putting God first in everything helps us from putting other “gods” (like our pride and ego, money and possessions to name a few) before God. Before making a decision, ask yourself, “Am I doing this for the glory of God or for the glory of me?”
FROM THE PARISH OFFICE We are in the process of preparing our annual par-ish guide book and directory and would like to have as many correct addresses and phone numbers as possible. If you have moved or changed phone numbers, please call the office at 962-5883.
Each Lent we are invited into a season of spiritual reflection and renewal. Catholic Relief Services Rice Bowl is one way for families and faith communi-ties to experience Lent. CRS Rice Bowl is now in its fifth decade and begins on Ash Wednesday. Seventy-five per-
cent of your donations support CRS’s humanitarian relief programs in nearly 100 countries. Additionally, CRS allows each diocese to keep 25% of the collec-tion in the local community to be used for hunger and poverty alleviation programs. Rice Bowls are on the table in the vestibule. Please take one, fill and return during Holy Week.
BLACK/INDIAN MISSION COLLECTION Next weekend, our parish will take up the 134th annual National Black and Indian Mission Collec-tion. Our support of this collection helps build the Church in Native American, African-American and Alaska Native communities from coast to coast. Schools, parish religious education programs, and diocesan ministries depend on your generosity to help them spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
RESPECT LIFE DYNAMIC CATHOLIC, ALIVE! SPIRITUAL
SPECIAL COLLECTIONS
“Sharing our Testimony.” Jesus heals the man with leprosy in the Gospel today. Even after instructing the man not to spread the report abroad, the man shares if freely. In our own lives, how difficult it is not to proclaim the wonderful things that God has done for us, both big and small! This is the essence of sharing our personal testimony: telling others how Jesus has transformed our lives and given us a fullness that we previously lacked. You are invited to consider the many opportunities you have to learn how to prepare and share your testimony, which is unique and not quite like that of anyone else.
2018 STEWARDSHIP EVENING with ARCHBISHOP CARLSON Tuesday, February, 27th, 7:00-9:00 p.m. a Cardinal Rigali Center Open to all religious and lay people. Registration is required. New
this year—small group discussion! Call Nancy at 314-792-7691.

IN SEARCH of ST. PAUL Saturdays, Feb. 24, March 3 & 10
10:00 a.m.-Noon Our Lady of the Snows, Belleville
This three-week series will attempt to uncover, amidst all the confusing and even conflicting evidence-the “real” St. Paul. After Jesus Himself, St. Paul is probably the most influ-ential figure in the history of Chris-tianity. Still, Paul the man and his theology remain shrouded in mys-tery. The cost is $30 for the series, or $10 per session. Call 618-394-6270 to register.
HELPERS of GOD’S INFANTS Your witness and prayers are needed to help end abortions. On February 17th, and the third Saturday of every month, you are invited to the 8:00 a.m. Mass and prayer vigil at the Cathedral Basil-ica. After Mass, a peaceful, prayerful procession to the abortion facility at Forest Park and Boyle gives witness to this violence against women and their babies. Procession is optional. Call Kay at 961-1035 for a ride or more info.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him might not perish but might have eternal life. For God did not
send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.” (John 3:16-17)
The Church has always helped us fulfill these words of Jesus by prescrib-ing very definite penance for all Catholics, so that we too might have eter-nal life. Accordingly, the Pope and the American Bishops have outlined obligatory fast and abstinence as follows: Ash Wednesday (February 14) and Good Friday (March 30) are days of abstinence for all Catholics over the age of 14. On these two days, fast, as well as abstinence, is also obligatory for those from the ages of 18-59. Ab-stinence means refraining from meat. Fast means one full meal a day, with two smaller meals and nothing between meals, except liquids. No Catholic will lightly excuse himself or herself from this obligation. All Fridays in Lent are days of abstinence from meat. Here again, Catholics will not hold themselves lightly excused, but if there is a serious health problem, this obligation would not apply. We should strive to make all days of Lent a time of prayer, penance, reflection, and service. May the Lord strengthen you during this season. Masses with distribution of ashes will be held at 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. Stations of the Cross will be held each Friday during Lent at 5:30 p.m. and Confessions will be heard each Monday at 7:00 p.m.
ADULT FAITH FORMATION On Catechesis Sunday, February 18th, there will be a short 15 minute DVD presentation, THE BI-BLE and the SACRAMENTS, after the 8:30 a.m. Mass in the parish hall.
FORTY DAYS for LIFE A sign-up sheet is in the vestibule for this vigil, be-ginning Feb. 14th at Planned Parenthood (Forest Park & Boyle). Arrangements have been made with neighboring parishes for Curé of Ars parishioners. Please consider signing up for one hour or more.
