In a little village in the corner of the land, the villagers learned that their beloved King was hunting lions in the neighborhood. The villagers decided to invite the King and his Court the next morning for a royal breakfast.

They immediately set to prepare for the King’s arrival and killed a number of sheep in his honor. They then placed a huge goatskin bottle outside the King’s sleeping quarters and the villagers agreed to fill it up with milk for the royal breakfast.

The villagers all agreed to milk their goats and then each of them were supposed to tip their bucket into the goatskin bottle. Given the great size of the goatskin, each villager thought to himself that he may as well dilute

the milk with a good quantity of water without anyone knowing better.

Thus it occurred that in the morning, to the horror of the assembled villagers, a thin liquid was poured out for the King and his entourage. The milk had absolutely no taste!

A person may think, what difference does it make what I do? If I do a good deed, will it make such a difference? If I do not do this act, will anyone care? Yet, we are part of one whole and if we do not do our part, the entire whole is affected. It is up to every one of us to do our best, to do all we can do with effort so that the world will be a better place and that the King of the Universe will be proud of us!

Traditional Reasons for Supplementing with Folic AcidThe primary use of folic acid supplementation by conventional doctors is to treat megaloblastic anemia — a low number of large red blood cells — and to prevent neural tube defects in newborn babies.

Because of this, many countries started to fortify foods and drinks with folic acid. But then along came the cancer scare.

Research throughout the last 5 years suggested that excessive intake of folic acid could promote tumor growth and lead to a higher risk of developing cancer. So how exactly could folic acid promote cancer, if it does at all?

Well, it’s essential to numerous bodily functions including methylation of vitamin B12 and DNA synthesis — which are especially important for tissues that rapidly divide. This is why gastrointestinal symptoms and anemia can all develop with a folic acid deficiency, as they both occur in rapidly dividing tissues.

So, as the theory goes, high doses of folic acid could initiate rapid cell division, involving repeated cycles of DNA synthesis, increasing the risk of DNA mutations — the hallmark of cancer.

But this is not proven and even the A m e r i c a n Cancer Society admits it doesn’t know how folic acid increases the risk of cancer … if it does at all.

Folic Acid Makes a ComebackResearchers from the study assessed data from almost 50,000 people from 13 randomized clinical trials involving folic acid supplementation — about 25,000 taking folic acid and the other half not taking it.

They found that people who took daily folic acid for five years or less were not significantly more likely to develop cancer than those that didn’t take folic acid.

A total of 1,904 new cases of cancer were reported in the folic acid group, compared to 1,809 in the placebo group — that’s 7.7% of the total folic users versus 7.3% of the total subjects in the control groups.

The researchers went a step further in their analysis. They identified out of the data pool people taking the highest amount of daily folic acid and found that even for this group there was no increased risk of cancer over five years.1

One of the lead investigators, Dr. Robert Clarke, was optimistic about the results but he did caution that longer term trials need to be conducted before any definite conclusions are made.

This is a great Pizza concept – you don’t need to use bread or cauliflower to achieve individual Pizzas – its Portobello Mushrooms!

Ingredients:

Large Portobello Mushroom caps (remove the stems)

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Tomato Sauce

Italian Herbs such as oregano and finely minced garlic (if not already in the sauce)

Fresh mozzarella cheese

Choice of Toppings: olives, scallions, diced tomatoes or anything else you desire.

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 F.

Lightly coat the edges of the mushrooms with olive oil. NOTE: This will keep them from looking like they dried out while cooking

Mix sauce with the herbs, to taste. NOTE: Fresh herbs are the best but dried is fine.

Lay out the mushrooms on a pan, gill sides up. Slather on the tomato sauce.

Slice the cheese and put on top.

Add toppings of your choice.

Bake for 20 minutes and serve.

They then did what any hoard of drunk elephants would do, and started to uproot electrical poles. Unfortunately, they died horribly as a result. In 2002, another group of drunken elephants rampaged through another village; this time, killing 6 people.

These aren’t just freak occurrences. Alcoholism in elephants is a growing problem in India and Africa. Because elephants are clever, they have figured out that where there are people, there is also liquor. Just another example of how intelligence can lead a creature to do some stupid things.
