From Cornwall with LoveDott Cornwall - Design Council

From Cornwall with Love looks for radical and inventive ways to promote the values of Cornwall through its products and produce. By establishing a link between the future brand and aspirations of the county, the aim of From Cornwall with Love is to stimulate growth in the dynamic businesses that will underpin Cornwall’s future economy.

From Cornwall with Love fcocused on both products by local designers and makers as well as food produce, seeking to increase their availability and visibility.

Through innovative implementation of the Dott process, the From Cornwall with Love team facilitated in depth exploration of the key challenges facing the promotion

of quality Cornish products and produce.

We engaged and worked with producers, consumers, residents, visitors to Cornwall, retailers, buyers, the press, and key figureheads at existing initiatives. This ensured a) focused outcomes truly representative of the needs of each group affected by the brief, and b) a sense of public ownership of the outcomes.

Communication EventCornwall Council

The first manifestation of a new blueprint for communication between Cornwall Council, its affiliate bodies, and local businesses.

The proposal is to host to the first in a series of uniques events (potentially at Geevor Tin Mine) to encourage more regular communication between stakeholders and key industry players across Cornwall in the form of regular dinners or meetings in exciting stimulating environments.

Quarterly communication events are to be held at exciting, unusual venues across Cornwall as a platform for discussion and to garner feedback on new business support initiatives in the county.

The events will provide an unique opportunity for producers, and entrepeneurs to put forward their insight and discuss intitiatives with those running and funding them. The quarterly events were borne from the success of the Mirrored Dinner hosted as part of From Cornwall With Love.

The need for more communication and stakeholder input into the vast array of initiatives became apparent during FCWL. An informal event in unusual surroundings acts as a great leveller, and quality local food and wine ensures conversation flows freely.

Kernow AppSmartphone App

A multifunctional smartphone app. aiming to exploit changes in the way people access information, in order to maximise visibility and availability of Cornish produce and products locally, nationally and globally.

Smart phone technology is quickly becoming one of the primary methods of accessing information. It is now possible to do your shopping, plan holidays and find your way around town using your mobile phone.

The app. has three main functions:

Bar code scanning: Visitors to Cornwall or to a Cornish pop-up shop/trade show can scan a special barcode on any Cornish product to access information about

the producer, product and where it can be purchased locally to them.

Cornwall: Using GPS, visitors in Cornwall can be alerted to local events, shops, open studios and other attractions (such as Kernow Plaques) as they drive along, or when they are planning their trip or day out.

Local produce: Restaurateurs and the general public receive regular updates on the latest produce available at farm shops and markets. For example, restaurateurs could be alerted to the latest catch at Newlyn Harbour.

Pop Up Shop and Touring PromosFCWL

A touring shop, deli and cafe that providesa shop window to Cornish produce andproduct, affording consumers across theUK/Europe/The World the chance to seefi rst hand what Cornwall has to offer.A touring pop-up shop and deli promoting the best products andproduce Cornwall has to offer. The pop-up affords the general public the chance to see, try outand buy products and produce close to where they live. It also affords Cornwall the opportunity to promote less known industries, and increase public perceptions of Cornwall being acreative and gastronomic hotbed.Pop-ups could strategically target ports, airports and other entry points to the UK to maximise their impact.

A touring ‘Ice Cream’ van selling productsunique to Cornwall, and promoting Cornwall’s more unusual assets. An ice cream van represents the epitome of Cornwall. Onespreconceptions of what would be sold from an ice cream van arewell formed.Throughout FCWL we have found that tourism is the majorfactor in peoples’ understanding of what Cornwall represents.A touring ice cream van plays on the common perception ofcaornwall as a bucket and spade destination. By selling, andshowcasing some of Cornwall’s less known products and producethis perception is challenged, and Cornwall’s diversity is highlighted.

Wired Lamp Family

Inspiration for the Wired Lamp came from the process of model making, using wire to ‘draw’ with in 3D, rather than using paper and pencil. Playing with scale and size has led to the lamp being a fun, inspiring product with a uniquness all of its own.

The Wired Lamps are available in two sizes. As a Dwarf Standard lamp and a Table lamp. Both share the same simple but classic bent steel form and slightly exagerated shade proportion.

Available in Three Colour ways:Green/White,White/White,Yellow/Black

Specification:

Standing 800mm tall the Dwarf is construced from 10mm steel wire.

At 400mm tall the Table is formed from 6mm stell wire.
