The new Parkside K kids program wants to connect with their

Kiwanis family on Monday February 17th They are celebrat-

ing k kids pride and connecting with their Kiwanis fami-

ly. Key Club and Builder’s club members plan to attend.

Lets get some Kiwanians to room 152 at Parkside at

2:15. We can learn about their Parkside projects and ways

we can help. Also our groups can tell k kids what we are

doing. Let me know if we can help with transporta-

tion. The time commitment should be less than half an

hour.

Kiwanis Club of Monroe – Board Minutes January 6, 2020

Members present: Patrick Bodell, Sue Curran, Shirley Eells, Linda Gebhardt, Jim Glessner, Erik Haworth, Beth Kindschi, Dave Mosher,

Jane Paradowski, Ron Spielman and Nanci Valentino. Excused, Danielle Hanusa. Absent, Steve Kundert. No guest presentations

At 1200, call to order by President Patrick.

Secretary’s report- December minutes approval by Nanci, second by Sue and approved.

Treasurer’s report -The Foundation account has $1,745.33. Administrative account balance $2,311.18. Activities $35,677.58. The candy

bill of $39, 682.50. Report moved approved by Sue, second by Shirley and passed.

Funding Requests – Jacob’s Swag requested $5,000-7,000 to help fund t-shirts to publicize the implementation of the “Got Your Back”

teen suicide prevention app. After discussion, Dave proposed we give $2,500 for the project, second by Jane and passed. Nathan Smith

requested funds to study abroad. This request was denied as we do not fund individuals.

President’s report-none

Committee Reports - No report from: House, Human and Spiritual Values, Nominating, Scholarships

Club meetings – Interclubs, two complete to date

program updates. January and February are complete and Shirley volunteered to do March with Jim

filling April.

House – Jim and Patrick will cover for Nanci when she is gone.

Membership and Education, an induction will be scheduled for the three new members, Dave will set it up.

Public Relations – no report.

Youth Services- Youth Cabin – The storage shed needs to be cleaned out. Dave will work toward spring accomplishment.

Scouting – Canyon camp is going well but more older(over 21) staff is needed. the fee. He will stay in touch with the troop.

Young Children – no report

Scholarship – the high school will be offered the 4-&50 scholarships again this year.

Sponsored Youth: Key Club helped with Christmas Stocking projects.

Builders Club Blood Mobile went well and some members helped pack Christmas Stocking cookies.

K-Kids meet on the 1st and 3rd Monday at 2:15 at Parkside School.

Fundraising – Candy – the bill is paid, the rest is profit. Gumballs have a new vendor, Dave and George will reach out.

New Business –Nanci proposed that Loaves and Fishes be added to the volunteer list, second by Sue and passed. Sue asked if the club

might consider sponsoring a month.

Jim had a small stroke and has realized that he needs to cut back a bit. He will no longer do the Nibbles. After some discussion, Nanci

decided to do an abbreviated newsletter via email. Dave and Shirley volunteered to help keep club communications current. Jim also

mentioned that someone else needs to be the Agent of Record for the club (official 501.c3 address). The Midyear one day meeting is March 21st in Madison. Beth, Shirley and Jim plan to go. All members are welcome to attend. All members are welcome. New members are

club. Kiwanis Hockey Night deadline is today – January 6th.

On December18th, Linda proposed via e-mail that we give $300 more to the Christmas Stocking project for 175 winter jackets they have

ordered. The proposal was seconded by Erik. Yes votes from Steve, Dave, Shirley, Nanci, Beth, Danielle and Jane. The motion passed and

the check will be mailed.

Nanci requested we adjourn at 1300, second by Dave and passed.

Next meeting is February 3rd. at 1200, Mosher Insurance conference room.

Monroe Kiwanis Board of Directors 2/3/2020 minutes

Prior to the meeting, Susan Anderson, Key Club advisor, came and spoke about DCON, being held in Green Bay on March 13-15, 2020. There have been increases in registration costs, room costs and more students are attending over last year. The Key Club will come to our meeting on April 2 to give a program on their expe-riences. Meeting called to order at 12:25pm by Pres. Bodell. Members present: Jim Gless-ner, Ron Spielman, Jane Paradowski, Steve Kundert, Nanci Valentino, Shirley Eels, Dave Mosher (remote). Jane moved and Steve seconded that the agenda be approved; passed. Jane moved and Shirley seconded that the Secretary’s report be approved; passed. Jim moved and Ron seconded that Treasurer’s report be approved; passed. Donation requests: DCON: Moved by Jane, seconded by Jim to spend $2K; passed. Wisconsin Leadership Seminar: Moved by Nanci, seconded by Ron to spend $500. Passed. Committee reports: Membership: Nitza Pfaff still needs to be inducted (done 2/6) Youth Services: Dave is our gumball rep now. Kiwanis Annual Dinner will be TUESDAY, May 12, 2020 in the Grand Hall of Turner Hall. More information will follow. Our entertainment will be the Northside Afri-can Drum Ensemble.
