Learn the stories behind the photographs in a special event featuring a presentation by photojournalist Paul Kitagaki, Jr. on Saturday, February 14. Since 2005, Kitagaki has mirrored historic images of Japanese Americans taken in 1942 by War Relocation Authority staff including Dorothea Lange and Tom Parker with his own contemporary photographs of the same individuals. Currently on display in the Museum’s exhibit, “Gambatte! Legacy of an Enduring Spirit,” his work documents his subjects’ legacy of strength and perseverance over their incarceration during WWII.

Presented in partnership with The Sacramento Bee, event tickets include entry to presentation plus admission to the Museum’s current exhibits and parking in the surface street lot at 10th & O Streets. Proceeds benefit the Museum’s National Parks Services grant to fund updates to the permanent exhibit, “Uprooted! Japanese Americans During WWII.”
