SINGLE LOCATION

National RV has experiencedphenomenal growth over thepast forty years but hasgrown by reinvesting in itsown products and facilities insunny Southern California.Designing and buildingeverything at a single locationresults in consistent qualityacross product lines, increased efficiencies and astable, loyal workforce in thecompany’s home community. When you buy a National RV,you’ll never wonder whetherit came from the “good”plant. They’re all built inPerris, and they’re all good.

PROTOTYPE & TOOLMAKING

All molds, jigs and other manufacturing fixtures are built and maintained in-houseto ensure consistent quality from part to part. While National RV takes pride in its

use of the latest technologies wherever possible to improve manufacturing qualityand efficiency, certain tasks still require the hands-on attention of skilled craftsmen.

National RV’s toolmakers are an excellent example, crafting by hand the moldsand jigs that will ensure the consistent style and quality of production pieces for

months and years afterward.

COMPUTER AIDED DESIGN

Every motorhome begins as an idea.In our Engineering Department, skilleddrafters use the latest Computer AidedDesign software to model the coach incyberspace, ensuring a proper designand true fit of every component before

a single piece is machined or cut.

BUILDING A BETTERMOTORHOME

Deciding to build a qualitymotorhome that bring itsowners years of enjoyment iseasy. National RV strives touse the latest technologies, yetthe basics are constant:intelligent design andengineering coupled with thebest materials and methods.

Every RV manufacturerknows HOW to build a bettermotorhome; National RVchooses to DO IT.Fundamental concepts—steelis stronger than aluminum,

block foam insulation won’tsag like blanket insulation—determine the quality of amotorhome over the longhaul. National RV chooses toadhere to those concepts. And with thousands ofNational RV products on theroad and in use today (somefor nearly 40 years now) thesuccess of this strategy isevident in every happy owner.

To learn more about whatit takes to build a bettermotorhome, follow the virtualfactory tour, which beginsright here!

INVESTING IN THE FUTURE

Four decades have passed, yetthere is still so much to learn.Emerging technologies, demographics and customerwants are constantly shapingthe idea of what a motorhomeshould be. National RV’sproduct development team isdriven by customer feedbackand the possibilities ofemerging technologies. With ahistory of importantinnovations and patents alreadyunder its belt, National RVcontinues to research, develop, and invest in the latestmanufacturing technologies toensure ever increasing levels ofquality and efficiency.

IN-HOUSE MANUFACTURINGNational RV strives to build as many of the coach components as possible in-

house. From ABS plastic thermo-forming to fiberglass to wiring harnesses,National RV is a manufacturer, not merely an aseembler. In-house manufacturing

enables National RV to closely monitor quality at every stage of manufacturing.Another benefit is that lower costs, as only one company is trying to make a profit

on the same component. This is one way in which National RV is able to packmore features—and higher quality—into motorhomes than similarly priced models

from competing motorhome “assemblers”.

aybe it’s becausewe’re situated

directly betweenHollywood and PalmSprings. Maybe it’sbecause we work hardto build a motorhomethat looks and feelslike home. Whateverthe reason, everyNational RVmotorhome brings alittle bit of Californiasunshine wherever itgoes. And everyDolphin motorhomebears the distinctive“California Styling”that is the hallmarkof a National RV.

Take a look around aDolphin motorhome andyou’ll discover that no spaceis wasted. Whereverpossible, there areconvenient and abundantstorage spaces, nooks andrecesses. Yet, the coachinterior remains fresh, openand livable—never cluttered.Making a coach seem biggeron the inside than it looksfrom the outside is one ofour greatest skills. Theintelligent use of space canonly be learned throughdecades of motorhomerefinement, and that’s whyNational RV is so good at it.

THE PATENTED DURAFRAME®

In the chassis shop, the patented Duraframe® all-steel subfloor system is constructedon precision assembly jigs. Fabricated from carefully formed steel components, the

Duraframe® is welded at every joint to provide unyielding strength over the longhaul. The completed Duraframe® substructure is carefully lowered onto themotorhome chassis then the two are welded together to form a permanent,

super-strong structure. Next, a generous coat of rust-inhibiting paint is applied tothe entire assembly before it enters the main assembly line.

COLD HARD STEEL

All of the structural components of the motorhome—subfloor structure, sidewalls, floors, bulkhead and the arched roof—are fabricated from steel. Competitors

may use aluminum, wood or other materials to save costs, but none are as strongas cold hard steel.

VACUUM LAMINATION

All coach body panels are vacuumlaminated for unequaled strength and

durability. This process uses advancedadhesives and vacuum to bond the

various input components into a single, inseparable unit.

A COCOON OF INSULATION

The entire coach is literally surroundedin high density EPS block foam

insulation. Each piece is precisely cut to fitbetween the members of the tubular steel

frame then laminated into place. Thisinsulation will never settle or sag like

fiberglass blanket insulation.

ADVANCED INDUSTRIAL ADHESIVES

National RV’s lamination process uses specially formulated adhesives topermanently bond the components together into a single, inseparable piece.

Computer controlled extruders precisely meter the adhesive on to the workpiecebetween each layer of the assembly. As the extruder passes, a fine mist of wateris emitted over the adhesive as a catalyst. From this point, skilled workmen move

swiftly to complete the assembly and move it into the vacuum table before theadhesive begins to cure.

96" DRIVING SPACE

102" LIVING SPACE

Dolphin’s storagecompartments rival those ofmotorhomes costingthousands more, and farsurpass any competitors inDolphin’s price range.

FIBERGLASS DOORSThe industry standard is to save thousandsof dollars at your expense by using cheap, plain looking flat panel compartment doors.By contrast, Dolphin’s compartment doorsare hand made with a stylishly contoured, molded fiberglass shell. Unlike the industrystandard flat panel doors, these doors curveinward closer to the road to avoid rocks, curbs and other road hazards. EPS blockfoam insulation is laminated into the door, which is finished with a durable stainlesssteel piano hinge and convenient paddlelatch.

LAMINATED FLOORSDolphin’s storage compartment floors aremade with the same vacuum laminationprocess as the sidewalls, roof and coachfloor. This includes sturdy 1/4” deckingand thick EPS block foam insulation. Hereagain Dolphin is far superior to the industrystandard—less durable rotocast plastic“tubs” that provide no insulation value.

GAS CHARGED STRUTSDual gas charged struts make loading andunloading gear a breeze. They lift the doorfor you, then hold it up out of your way.

96” DRIVING SPACEDolphin’s contoured fiberglass lower skirteffectively creates a 96” (standard width)driving space for a coach that boasts all of theliving space of a 102” wide body motorhome. This narrower width close to the road makes iteasier to drive and maneuver through parkinglots and tight spaces without striking curbs andother obstructions with the coach’scompartment doors and lower body skirt.

EASY UTILITIES ACCESSFULL GELCOATFIBERGLASS EXTERIOR

Every Dolphin motorhome iscompletely surrounded bygelcoat fiberglass—just like aboat—for long lasting quality, performance and great looks. The sidewalls, full front andrear caps, compartment

doors, and even the roof allhave exterior surfaces madeof gleaming, durable gelcoatfiberglass. Dolphin is theonly motorhome in its classthat has it, while otherschoose to cut costs by usingplastic, rubber and othercheaper materials.

IT’S STARTING TO LOOK LIKE A MOTORHOMEBy the time the sidewall is set into place on a National RV motorhome, many man-

and machine-hours as well as the best materials and methods have alreadycontributed to creating the sturdiest and all around best-performing motorhome

sidewalls available. National RV’s unique method for attaching the sidewall placesno shear forces on the fasteners. Rather, the weight of the sidewall rests upon a

sturdy ledge of steel. Screws are used to hold the wall laterally to the edge of thecoach floor, but do not bear the weight of the sidewall and roof assemblies.

CNC PRECISION

National RV has been at the forefront of implementing new technologies in RVmanufacturing. An excellent example is the CNC router. This advanced machine

uses a computer-numerically-controlled (CNC) router to precisely cut windows andother openings in the sidewalls. Routed-out pieces aren’t wasted—they’re furthershaped into insulated, sound-deadening panels for our heated basement storage

compartments.

THE DURAFRAME®

CHASSIS SYSTEM

The Duraframe® ChassisSystem is a marriage ofNational RV’s patentedDuraframe® technology andselect motorhome chassisfrom leading manufacturers.

The Duraframe® ChassisSystem is specificallyengineered to provide theoptimum performance,

strength, durability, ridequality and basement storagepossible.

Rigidly fabricated ofwelded tube and sheet steel, the Duraframe® ChassisSystem provides all of thecoach strength necessary tocarry the load over the longhaul. Other manufacturersrely on placing stresses onthe coach body—the

sidewalls, roof and floor. This can lead to squeaks andrattles as well as overallloosening and weakening ofthe coach’s structuralintegrity. In a Dolphinmotorhome, the Duraframe®

Chassis System bears thesestresses, allowing the coachbody and all of itscomponents to remain astight and quiet as possible.

ENGINEERED FORMULTIPLE SLIDEOUTS

The Duraframe® ChassisSystem is specificallyengineered to provide thestrength that today’s multipleslide-out motorhomes need.

Other manufacturers rely onthe coach sidewalls to absorbsome of the stresses ofcarrying the coach’s weight. But slide-outs blow hugeholes in that strategy. That’swhy the Duraframe Chassis

System builds all of thestrength necessary to supportthe coach into the chassissystem itself—below thefloor line and below theslide-outs.

Dolphinmotorhome is a

complete engineeredsystem, where eachpart is designed inconcert with thewhole to achievemaximum overallperformance.

EXAMPLE

TOTAL ENGINEERING

The strength of theDuraframe® ChassisSystem providesrigidity to the coachbody, which leads tothe tighter fitof the interiorcabinetry. This in turnresults in fewergaps between thecabinetry andsidewall, eliminatingthe use of gimpmolding to hide suchgaps.

THE MAIN ASSEMBLY LINEThe heart of National RV’s production facilities is the main assembly line. Here, anever-ending procession of motorhomes makes its way sideways through the planton a specialized rail system. A veritable beehive of activity, the main line is where

most of the coach’s manufactured components are installed—name brandappliances, comfortable furnishings, interior lighting and fixtures. Near the end of

the line, special UV-resistant graphics are applied and a nearly complete newmotorhome emerges.

From the Duraframe®

Chassis System to thesteel framed coachbody, National RVuses steel for EVERYstructural componentof the motorhome.Other manufacturersmay use aluminum orwood in the same

places, but nonecarry the strengthand durability

characteristics of coldhard steel.

STEEL OUTRIGGERSThe Duraframe® Chassis System uses rigidsheet steel outriggers to provide uniformcoach support from the center to the edges.Truss-like arrangement of outriggers and othersteel members provides unmatched strengthand rigidity to the overall motorhome.

TUBULAR STEEL RISERSThick walled tubular steel risers lift the coachfloor above the chassis rails to provide deepstorage bays with pass-through versatility.

RIGID MOUNTED COMPONENTSBasement-mounted components such as theLPG tank, batteries and holding tanks arerigidly anchored in the cold hard steel of theDuraframe® Chassis System.

FLUSH FLOOR SLIDE MECHANISMFlush floor technology provides residentiallivability. Precise rack and pinion slidemechanisms are attached directly to theDuraframe® for superior support.

ALL STEEL BULKHEADCombined with the tubular steel cage-likeframes of the sidewalls and roof, the driverand passenger are surrounded by a safetybarrier of cold hard steel. Compare tocompetitors’ wooden front bulkheads andaluminum framed walls and roof.

A BETTER WAY TO MOUNT A SIDEWALL The National RV sidewall is placed on top of the steel floor framework. Somemanufacturers use screws to fasten the sidewall horizontally to the edge of thefloor. This places the fastening screws under an enormous amount of shear force, andthe sidewall—and everything above it, such as the roof—is literally being held up by a fewsmall screws! With the National RV method, the weight of the sidewall rests on the steel framework of thefloor. Which would you prefer?

National RV uses anadvanced vacuum laminationprocess in the constructionof all coach bodycomponents. A layer ofspecially formulatedindustrial adhesive iscarefully applied betweeneach layer of the component. Once joined, the entireassembly is pulled into avacuum chamber to bond thepieces together as theadhesive cures. The result isa wall that possesses each ofthe different qualities of itsingredients—the strength ofsteel, the insulative quality ofthe EPS block foam, therigidity of the 1/4” mahoganyplywood—all in a single, solid, inseparablecomponent.

TUBULAR STEEL FRAMEStronger and less susceptible to workfatigue than aluminum and won’t decaylike wood.

CROWNED ROOFThe best RV roof in the businessis built with welded tubularsteel rafters. The crowned roofhas radius edges for superiorrunoff.

FIBERGLASS ROOF SKINA seamless barrier againstmoisture; more durable andeasier to maintain and repairthan rubber or aluminum.

¼" STRUCTURE-WOOD®

This oriented strand board (OSB) fromWeyerhauser carries a 25 year warrantyand is used for both the roof deck andinterior ceiling panel.

EPS BLOCK FOAM INSULATIONUsed throughout the coach in everylaminated coach body component. Thisfoam won’t settle or sag like spun fiber-glass insulation. Insulation is up to 6” thickin the roof, and completely surrounds thecoach living areas. It’s even in the floor!

HIGH GLOSS GELCOAT EXTERIORExterior sidewall surface is made of ahigh gloss fiberglass gelcoatthat is molded into a luanbacking then vacuum laminatedto the sidewall structure. Theresult is excellent resistance todelamination and long-lastinggreat looks.

¼" THICK MAHOGANY PLYWOODINTERIOR WALL PANELA thick, firm interior wall surface that’stough enough to anchor our cabinetry...andwhatever pictures or fixtures you care tohang, wherever you want to hang them.Competitors’ thin walls “give” when youpush them, revealing their weaknessbeneath the surface, with reinforcementsbuilt in only where necessary to attachcabinets. Our walls are thick and rigidthroughout!
