Historian•News writers use phrases and words that convey accurate

info.

•The media exaggerates more than what the situation is.

•The fear that we get when we turn on the television and

see death and terror going on in our world.

•The media fills our head with stories, threats, and deaths

to keep us tuned in just to see what horrible thing happens

next.

•What can we do to stop this?

•Just don’t believe everything the U.S. media informs

us about

•E.g., Scare tactics companies use in

advertisements to sell their products.

•Examples of false alarms

•Y2K-the end of all technology

•H1N1-the worldwide epidemic

•2012- the Mayan’s prediction of the end of the world

Connector

•Jack uses the fears of the beast and the

island to control the tribe, similar to how

the media tells our society about certain

events to Manipulate it.

•When Jack starts to use this form of

manipulation, he does it not only for the

lust of power, but also to be the center of

attention, just like the media.

Page 4: Fear in the Media

•The media, ever since 9/11, has used fear as a method of control and manipulation•They use murder, fighting, diseases, world disasters, terrorism, suicide, poverty, the economy, etc.

Page 5: Fear in the Media

•The clip at the end of my project shows the violence that corrupts the United States.•The reason violence has become so common is that the media makes us believe we need to be able to stand up for ourselves and should be afraid all the time.

Page 6: Fear in the Media

•With the Media scaring us with tons of murder stories on the news, bloody school fights, the swine flu, Y2K in 2000, multiple terrorist threats, suicides, and the economy crisis (which is actually a big deal, don’t get me wrong), what level will it go to next? How more frightening can it get?

Page 7: Fear in the Media

•If our media could focus more on less terrifying things such as the accomplishments of our country, various inspiring stories, new inventions, etc., then our country’s crime rate would most likely decrease and the violence in general might also decrease.•But the truth of it is, our media is so focused on making the “big bucks”, that they won’t even stop and consider this. Therefore, change seems very unlikely in the near future.
