To Whom it May Concern,

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for Larissa Paschyn. Larissa interned for the Market Access and Compliance section of the Foreign Commercial Service - US Embassy Beijing. I had the pleasure to supervise her during her time at MAC.

Larissa undertook independent and concrete work on issues critical to the trade and investment climate between China and the United States. She developed several in-depth research reports as well as databases on State owned enterprises of China, the various 12 Year Plans for Chinese industry, the remanufacturing and technology industries, and on Chinese trade laws and programs. Further, she collected information on broad issues such as IPR, transparency, government

procurement, and medical devices and generated weekly reports on such issues which were distributed within the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Her duties also included assisting with delegation support for the Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade held in Chengdu, the Remanufacturing Dialogue, and China ROHS Voluntary Certification round table. She participated in preparation for a number of bilateral meetings and digital video conferences, and helped coordinate industry meetings. Her contributions ranged from preparing

agendas and work plans, to logistics, to note-taking and preparing briefing materials for senior level meetings. She also worked alongside staff from the United States Trade Representative Office and with the office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Asia of the Department of Commerce, and showed her ability to work with confidential materials. I received numerous compliments from the visiting dignitaries regarding her performance.

I was impressed by how productive and attentive to detail she is in completing demanding research projects and program tasks. She did not only complete her reports efficiently, but also ensured the quality of her work was above expectations. MAC's frenetic environment presents many competing demands on the staff and Larissa demonstrated cheerfulness, calmness, and dependability. She is a self-starter who rarely needs supervision and clearly demonstrates managerial talent. She handles pressure well, and will voluntarily work overtime and take work home to meet a deadline.

Her interests also extended past the tasks assigned and she regularly engaged me in intelligent debate and discussions on current China-US economic events, including China's economic reforms,

regulatory climate, MNC policies, intellectual property rights, censorship, and overseas investment. Larissa will be an invaluable asset to any department and I highly recommend hiring her.
