Who We Are:

The Fatherless Girls Summit is a one day event for females, ages 12-17, who are growing up with an absent, unavailable or absent father in their lives. This one key missing element in a female’s life can have many negative consequences as she approaches puberty and adulthood.

This event was designed to do 3 things:

1. To help girls redefine who they really are beyond their fatherlessness.

2. To help girls reclaim their worth and value beyond their fatherlessness.

3. To help girls rewrite a new narrative for their lives beyond their fatherlessness.

Why We Exist:

We exist to combat the negative impact on a girl’s life who is growing up with an unattached, unavailable or absent father. This event is a celebration of the authentic voice inside every fatherless girl, an inspiring call to action for girls to speak up, follow their dreams, and become the women they were truly designed to be.

The Studies are Alarming:

• 71% of teen pregnancy is due to a lack of a father’s presence.

• 63% of youth suicide is due to fatherlessness.

• 71% of high school drop-out is due to lack of a father’s presence.

• 75% of all adolescence in chemical abuse centers is due to fatherlessness.

• 164% of fatherless children are more likely to have premarital sex.

• Daughters of single parents without fathers are 53% likely to marry as teens.

• 92% of fatherless children are more likely to get a divorce.

• 85% of behavior disorders are due to fatherlessness.

• 85% of all youth in prison are fatherless.

What We Do:

At The 2015 Fatherless Girls Summit, participants will spend a full day identifying how a lack of a father’s

presence in their lives is impacting them. Certified Fatherless Daughter Advocates and Speakers will help

participants heal their daddy wounds through powerful, interactive activities and workshops.

The girls will participate in open panel discussions and engaging workshops, listen to musical guest artists

and attend a luncheon with a surprise celebrity guest speaker. In addition, each girl will write a letter to her

father and these letters will be compiled and published in a book entitled, “Daddy, I Have Something to Say

to You.” The books will be distributed to several fatherhood organizations and prisons to help fathers

recognize the important role they play in their daughter’s lives.

Attendees will participate in a closing ceremony “A Love Experience,” that will inspire them to take the Vow 2

Love. It’s a pledge to live a life of love, acceptance and forgiveness and to never forget that they are love,

loved and lovable beyond their fatherlessness. This powerful ceremony is sure to be life transforming for

every girl.

Each girl will receive a beautifully designed swag bag filled with goodies that are important to girls, along with

a beautiful “I Love Who I Am” T-Shirt. They will also participate in make overs and take photos on the purple

carpet. Topics such as, Where’s Daddy, Healthy Boundaries, Sex, Dating, Education, Self Value and Worth,

Identity, Purpose and Forgiveness will be covered in the Summit. This event will be life transforming.

What is a Fatherless Daughter?

Angela Carr Patterson Shares How This All Started:

As I began to research the topic of fatherless daughters, I also discovered there were no real platforms designed specifically for this underserved population of women and girls. There were numerous of forums and conversations taking place everywhere. Women were coming together to share, connect and even seek out help. However, no real result based solutions were being offered.

Conversations are great because they open a space for awareness and awareness gives us the ability to make new choices. I too, joined in on the conversations. I was invited to do numerous Radio and TV Talk Shows to discuss my book “I’m Not That

Woman...A Fatherless Daughter’s Journey to Being” and it’s impact on women and girls. My phone would ring constantly and my email inbox would be filled with stories from women and girls who so desperately wanted my help.

Then one day it happened. In July 2013, Oprah Winfrey and Iyanla Vanzant, along with The OWN Network, featured a two-part Life Class entitled, Daddyless Daughters. It ignited an explosion on Social Media and in my email inbox. The world saw what I’d been seeing all along...women and girls in pain because of their daddy wounds.

As millions tuned in for what would be one of OWN’s highest rated shows. The conversations became bigger and I became overwhelmed by what was happening within my

midst. I received phone calls, emails and invitations to come and speak on this topic. Women were beginning to understand why they had struggled so much in their relationships, in their careers and in their lives. Yet, they didn’t know how to fix it.

I had already been quite successful through my Online Fatherless Daughter’s Journey to Being Program. Women and Girls from around the world were rewriting their lives through the power of love, acceptance and forgiveness. As a result of these teachings, The Fatherless Girls Summit was birthed to come face to face with girls around the world and help them heal their daddy wounds.

Our goal is to take the Fatherless Girls Summit on a 9 City Tour with our kick off in Columbia, SC on June 13, 2015. We know this event will change a generation.
