Claw Hammer

The claw hammer is used to deliver an impact to an object, most often driving nails or fitting parts. Hammers are designated by weight and design. A typical utility hammer would weigh 16 to 20 ounces where a framing hammer is going to weigh 24 to 28 ozs. The claw end of the hammer head can be used to pull nails out of wood or pry pieces apart.

Pliers are a hand tool used to hold objects firmly. They are also used for cutting or bending soft metal pieces. There are a variety of models available as shown in the following photographs.

A wrench is a tool used to provide grip and mechanical advantage when turning nuts or bolts. They are available in a variety of sizes and in either “open end” or “box end” styles.

Pipe Wrench

A pipe wrench is a plumbing tool with self-tightening properties and hardened, serrated jaws that securely grip soft iron pipe and pipe fittings.

Socket Wrench

A socket wrench consists of a ratcheting handle that attaches to the socket tool. The socket is designed to fit snuggly over a nut or bolt. The socket wrench is then used as a leveraging tool for turning the nut or bolt.
