Toyota Announces Two Voluntary Recalls For Replacement Of The Seat Track Assembly and
For The Spiral Cable Assembly
Toyota announced two separate voluntary recalls as follows:
The first involves a seat track assembly and affects approximately 472,500 vehicles in the U.S.,
including:
• Certain Model Year 2006-2010 Yaris Hatchback
• Certain Model Year 2007-2010 Yaris Sedan
• Certain Model Year 2008-2010 Scion xD
In the seat rail of the driver seat of the involved vehicles and also the front passenger seat of
three-door models, the springs used for the mechanism which lock the seat rail in its adjusting
positions could break. This can happen if the seat is adjusted forward and/or rearward with
high frequency. If a seat rail spring breaks, the seat may not lock into the adjusted position. If
the vehicle is operated with a broken seat rail spring, the seat could move in the event of a
crash, increasing the risk of injury to the occupant.
If the condition is present, an occupant may notice the following:
• If both of the springs have broken, the seat will not lock into the adjusted position.
• In limited instances, if a spring has broken and becomes stuck in the seat rail, the seat may only be capable of forward movement.
Toyota is not aware of any accidents or injuries caused by this condition.
The company is currently preparing the remedy. Once preparations are complete, owners of
vehicles subject to this safety recall will receive an owner notification letter by first class mail.
The remedy, when available, will involve replacement of the seat track assembly at no charge
to the customer.
The second recall involves a spiral cable assembly and affects approximately 1.3 Million vehicles
in the U.S., including:
• Certain Model Year 2009-2010 Corolla
• Certain Model Year 2009-2010 Matrix
• Certain Model Year 2008-2010 Highlan der
• Certain Model Year 2009-2010 Tacoma
• Certain Model Year 2006-2008 RAV4
• Certain Model Year 2006-2010 Yari s vehicl es
The driver's airbag module in the involved vehicles is att ached to a spiral cable assembly with
electrical connections that could become damaged when the steering wheel is turned . If this
occurs, the air bag warning lamp will illum inate. In add ition, the driver's air bag could become
deactivated, causing it to not deploy in the event of a crash.
Toyota is not aware of any inj uries or fatal it ies ca used by this cond ition.
Toyota is currently prepari ng the remedy fo r th is condition . For all involved vehicles, a Toyota
dealer will replace the spiral cable with an imp roved one. Once preparations are complete,
Toyota will send an owner notification letter by fi rst class mail and the remedy will be provided
at no charge.

1. Toyota Brand Makes Huge Improvement in 2014 J.D. Power and Associates CSI Study
According to the 2014 J.D. Power and Associates Customer Service Index (CSI) study,
maintenance packages have become more prevalent and contribute to high service experience
and loyalty.
The success of ToyotaCare, and its no-cost maintenance plan, helped the Toyota brand achieve
an overall CSI score of 801 on a 1,000-point scale, up 21 points from last year's study, pushing
Toyota up to 6th place among non-premium brands.
The study showed Lexus scored 867 points, dropping from first to third place, due to a decline
in service quality for repairs, just one point behind the second place finisher, Audi (868).
Cadillac (872) showed a marked improvement from last year, up 14 points to finish at the top of
the study.
Scion scored 780 and dropped to 27th place overall, 15th among non-premium brands.
The 2014 CSI Study is based on responses from owners and lessees of 2011-2013 model-year
vehicles. The study examines satisfaction among vehicle owners who visit a service department
for maintenance or repair work during the first three years of new-vehicle ownership, which
typically represents the majority of the vehicle warranty period. Five measures are examined
to determine overall customer satisfaction with dealer service (listed in order of importance):
service quality; service initiation; service advisor; service facility; and vehicle pick-up.

Toyota Develops New Engine Series That Is Expected To Boost Fuel Efficiency
In an effort to further improve environmental performance of its vehicles, Toyota has
developed a series of highly fuel-efficient gasoline engines that achieve outstanding thermal
efficiency, and is expected to deliver at least 10 percent better fuel efficiency than current
vehicles.
Two engines will form the base of the new series.
• The 1.3-liter gasoline engine using the Atkinson cycle - which is normally used in hybrid
vehicles - to achieve maximum thermal efficiency of 38 percent, leading to planned fuel
efficiency gains of about 15 percent, compared to current vehicles.
• The 1.0-liter engine, developed jointly with Daihatsu Motor Co., has achieved maximum
thermal efficiency of 37 percent and could allow vehicles to improve fuel efficiency by up to
30 percent over current vehicles.
The new engines will be used in models scheduled for partial redesign in the near future, and a
total of 14 new engine variations will power models introduced globally by 2015.

1. Toyota Unveils Sweeping Redesign for 2015 Camry in New York
The Toyota Camry has been America's best-selling car for 12 straight years. But you don't stay
on top by staying the same.
That's why Toyota Division General Manager Bill Fay unveiled a sweeping redesign of the Camry
at the New York Auto Show today.
The mid-cycle update is strikingly thorough, as the 2015 Camry features nearly 2,000 new parts
and almost all-new sheet metal, only the roof remains unchanged. Two new sporty editions -
the XSE and Hybrid SE-join the well-equipped entry LE and the premium XLE grade, giving
customers more cho ice than ever before.
The interior is more refined than ever with premium materials, roomier feel and improved
amenities. Toyota engineers also focused on reducing unwanted wind and road noise for an
even quieter cabin.
For safet y, all Toyota vehicles come standard with the STAR Safety System. In addition, Camry
offers:
• Lane Departure Alert
• Adaptive Cruise Control
• Pre-Collision System with Auto High Beams
• Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert
"Customers today love the durability, quality and value that the Camry represents, but they are
looking for l_ittle more style, comfort and performance, and this 2015 Camry has all of the
above," said Bob Carter, senior vice president of automotive operations. "This is the new

2. Study Confirms Toyota Tundra is an American Treasure
Let's see, there's mom, ba seball, apple pie and fireworks on the Fourth of July. While you ' re at
it , go ahead and add the Toyota Tundra to t hat list.
A recent update to the Kogod Made in Ame ri ca Auto Index lists the Tundra as the second-most
American-made pickup truck on the market (And rea lly, what's more American than pickup
trucks?).
The Tundra's score of 78.5 on the Kogod list easily beats out the Chevy Silverado (70), GMC
Sierra (70), and Dodge Ram 1500 (63) . The Tundra is also closing in on the Ford F Series, which
topped all vehicles with a score of 87.5 .
The score is based on factors such as location of labor, research and development, and parts
assembly. Much of the Tu ndra, with true American roots, was engineered by Toyota Technical
Center in Ann Arbor, Mich., and its new look created by Calty Design Research centers in
Newport Beach, Calif., and Ann Arbor. Tu ndra's V6 and V8 engines are built at Toyota Motor
Manufacturing Alabama, Inc. in Huntsville, Ala., and tra nsmissions are built at a production
facili t y in North Carolina. Finally, Tundra cont in ues to be assembled exclusively at Toyota Motor
Manufacturing, in San Ant onio, Texas (TM MTX).

Toyota to Establish New North American Headquarters in Plano, Texas; Expands Toyota Technical
Center (TIC) in Michigan
Toyota announced it will unite its multiple U.S. affiliate headquarters at a new headquarters campus in
the North Dallas community of Plano, Texas. When construction is complete in late 2016 or early 2017,
the new North American headquarters will be home to a company better positioned for more
sustainable, long-term growth.
Current headquarters locations - Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., (TMS) in Torrance, Calif., Toyota Motor
Engineering and Manufacturing North America (TEMA) in Erlanger, Ky., and Toyota Motor North
America (TMA) in New York, N.Y., together with Toyota Financial Services (TFS) - will relocate to a
single, state-of-the-art, environmentally-sustainable campus in Plano. At the same time, the Company
will expand its Toyota Technical Center (TIC) to accommodate the relocation of direct procurement
from Erlanger, Ky., to York, Mich. Production Engineering in Erlanger also will move to TMMK in
Georgetown, Ky.
The transition of approximately 3,000 associates and team members from TMS, TEMA and TMA will
begin with initial small groups this summer. The majority of associates and team members will not move
until construction of Toyota's new headquarters is complete, which will be two years or more after the
groundbreaking in the fall of this year.
TFS in Torrance also plans to move its headquarters to the new, shared campus in Plano. This move,
which is not expected to begin until 2017, affects approximately 1,000 associates at TFS' headquarters.
Dealerships will not be impacted by this move. To this end, if customers have questions, we encourage
dealers to help them understand that:
• Unifying our headquarters in Plano will strengthen our ability to put customers first and to
continue making great products that exceed their expectations.
• Customers won't notice any changes. Dealerships are not moving and parts supply is going to
continue as before. And there will certainly not be any disruption in vehicle deliveries.
• The customer experience they have come t o expect from Toyota w ill continue as before, with
the same level of qualit y and custome r service.
• This move won 't ha ppen overnight. Our employees will have plenty of ti me to consider the
changes, weigh their options and decide what's right fo r themselves and their families .
New websites about Toyota 's plans to move have been crea ted . The sites include FAQs, insights on
Plano and Ann Arbor, and resources for managing change .
