THE WAY FORWARDIn January 2011, Evie Evangelou launched the Fashion 4 Development (F4D) media platform on South South News (a digital media platform working in support of the UN Millennium Development Goals). It has since expanded to a private sector global platform that supports the United Nations Millennium Development Goals and “Every Woman, Every Child,” the UN Initiative spearheaded by the Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon. The mission is to harness the power of the fashion and beauty industries and implement creative strategies for sustainable economic growth, wellness and independence of

It takes place in the Marble Hall of the Belvedere Palace in Vienna. Evie Evangelou is the President & Founder of Fashion 4 Development (F4D). She founded F4D’s global awareness campaign, and the First Ladies & Fashion 4 Development initiative, which were inspired by her exuberant career in the international arena of cultural diplomacy and International Relations, specializing in Entertainment, Arts, Fashion, Beauty, Travel &Tourism and Trade Development. Evie has extensive experience working with the United Nations within the framework of creating a better human understanding amongst cultures. She served as interim Deputy Secretary General for the World Federation of the United Nations at UN headquarters in NYC. She worked with more than 100 UN Member States/Countries and Missions, as well as numerous non-governmental bodies focused in education, cultural affairs and humanitarian causes. She received appointment by Kensaku Hogen, a former Under Secretary-General of the United Nations Department of Public Information, as a Special Consultant for Cultural and Educational Affairs and programs within UNDPI, one of the nine departments comprising the United Nations Secretariat. She also was appointed as a Special Consultant to the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for the UN theme “Dialogue Among Civilizations” to Co-Produce and Co-Sponsor with United Nations the UN Day Concert, and other smaller culturally oriented projects.
Evie writes for the Style section of the Huffington Post and has been the face of and international spokes model for beauty and fashion enterprises and is currently represented by MAJOR MODELS one of the top ten modeling agencies in the world. She has championed the careers of artists from around the globe in fashion & beauty, visual and performing arts, and has spearheaded diverse creative ventures & projects in fashion, entertainment, the arts and philanthropic causes.

Franca Sozzani is the Global Goodwill Ambassador of Fashion 4 Development and Editor in Chief of Vogue Italia. Franca has been at the forefront of fashion since the beginning of her career. She was already directing legendary publications LEI since 1980 and PER LUI since 1982 before heading up the Italian edition of VOGUE starting in 1988. She was finally appointed Editor in Chief of Conde Nast Italia in 1994. She is a founding member of CHILD PRIORITY a non profit organization created by Conde Nast to offer concrete study and work opportunities for those who have none, despite being talented andartistically gifted.
Franca is the author of several books about photography, fashion, art and design, including: 30 Years of Italian Vogue(1994), Visitors (20 Museums for the Florence Biennale of Fashion and Art; 1996), A Noir (an exploration of the colour Black between fashion and art, published by Assouline, 1998), Style in Progress (30 years of LUomo Vogue, 1998), Valentinos Red Book (2000) and Artists At Work ( an itinerary among the most important British artists of the time, published by Assouline, 2003).

Sometimes we get the feeling we don’t know where to start, but then we happen to meet people so capable and valued that all problems seem to slowly unravel.
