SEPTEMBER 2015
As I write this our Community Life Committee is getting ready to help us host our
very first Community Partnership Appreciation Picnic on Sunday, August 30. The
intent of the gathering is to say thank you to the businesses, organizations, and
individuals who partner with us on such things as our Adopt-A-Family at
Christmas program and contribute to the Silent Auction at our Community
Dinner. Many of our ministries rely on healthy partnerships to make them
successful. So often people in our community get asked for donations, but never
get thanked. We want to thank them in a tangible way. The picnic is our way of
making sure people who partner with us know how much we appreciate it.
We are also busy getting our fall schedule ready to roll. Our Treasure Seekers will
start up again on September 16. In addition our Adult Bible Study will begin that
evening as well. This year we will have two new wrinkles. First, Kathy Eilers will
be leading a Youth Bible Study that will meet at the same time the Adult Study
does. Second, we are adding a light supper to the Bible study mix. The idea is to
help busy people not have to worry about dinner on the Wednesday nights we
gather for the studies. So on Wednesdays when we have Bible studies the
schedule will look like this:
3:30 to 5 - Treasure Seekers
5:30 to 6 - Supper
6:00 to 7 - Youth & Adult Bible Study
7:00 to 8 - Choir Rehearsal
Speaking of the choir, they resume rehearsals at 7:00 pm on September 9. The
choir has the best seats in the house. Singers from High School age on up are
invited to join the choir family that adds so much to our worship experience.
I have enjoyed a wonderful summer and I hope you have as well. I have great
memories of fun journeys with marvelous family and friends. As I turn my
attention towards the fall I feel renewed for what is ahead. Again, that is my
hope for you also. It is so important to have people and experiences in our lives
that renew and refresh us on life’s journey.
May God richly bless you and FPC as we move from summer into fall.
