Breakwaters

Starting mid 2016 the long awaited green light has been given to

proceed with the breakwater construction project in the Pervolia -

Mazotos region, in an attempt to protect the beautiful natural

coastline from the effects of erosion.

The relevant contracts were signed recently between the relevant

parties. They will create a total of six breakwaters that will extend

from the sea area of Faros Pervolia towards the Mazotos, about

one kilometer.

The total cost of the project will amount to 3 million 330 thousand

euros (including VAT) and the duration of the work is estimated

at about two years.

As explained, the creation of breakwaters is of great importance

and necessity of work for the wider east cost of Larnaca.

Pedestrian - Bicycle trails

In another development, Pervolia area continues to work on the

construction of the coastal cycle and pedestrian, covering a dis-

tance of over one kilometer from the Lighthouse area until the

Press Village. The completion of the project, which will include the

creation of six small squares, proportional landscaping and the in-

stallation of photovoltaic system, is calculated to be next summer.

This is the first construction phase of the coastal cycle and pedes-

trian, which will cost about one million euros.

The local authorities already approved the study for the design of

the second phase of this project, which concerns an extension of

the coastal walkway - bicycle from the Press Village until the

'border' of the municipality Dromolaxia - Meneou (total length of

one kilometer). "With the completion of the second phase of the

project, the promenade - bicycle Pervolia will be a real gem not

only for our region but also for the wider Larnaca area in general,

as no similar project exists anywhere else in our province" noted

the Secretary of Pervolia municipality.
