Famous People with Learning Disabilities:
Agatha Christie
Using your opposite hand—if you are right handed use your left hand, if you are left handed use your right hand—answer the following question in three or four sentences.
“What is your favorite season of the year? Why?”

- expressing thoughts in writing-spelling and grammar conventions- computational mathematics- fine motor coordination- rote learning & Short term memory
DISPITE good oral language & reading skills
What Learning Disability did Agatha Christie have?
Spelling –forced to spell pages and pages of words-wrote short notes to her governess = badly spelt-Forced to change title of novel from Caribbean and Its Remains to “Nimrud and Its Remains”
Physical Act of Writing-Found it stressful and painful-Limited vocabulary used during writing -Excellent reading—read by the look of words not letters
Dysgraphia in Agatha Christie's Life:
Mathematics-Difficulty balancing her cheque book but loved problem solving
Foreign Language-Spoke french fluently with excellent accent-writing, spelling, & rote aspects of language (conjugations)
Positive Negative
-loved to make up stories in her mind and act them out--creativity
-persevered with the assistance of her sister and father
-Learned to use a typewriter better than most
-Use of a dictating machine which she mastered very well after breaking her arm
-considered slow by her family –was always slower to arrive at an answer than her sister and brother
-Frustration when forced to produce written work
