FAMOUS PEOPLE LESSON 7:
Boudica and
Winston Churchill
Balestra School Workshops proudly presents ..
BOUDICA
Boudica was born around the time
of the Roman invasion in
Britain in 43 AD and became the
Queen of the Iceni tribe.
BOUDICA
They lived in this area of Britain
shown on the map but in 61 AD her
husband, Prasutagus, died and left half of his land to the Romans and the
other half to Boudica’s daughters.
BOUDICA
Boudica was angry about the Romans getting her land so she formed an
army to fight back.
BOUDICA
She destroyed three Roman towns where the British
towns of Colchester, St
Albans and London are today, killing
70,000 Romans and their supporters.
BOUDICA
Eventually she was defeated and
captured by the Roman general Paulinus in a famous battle
called ‘The battle of Watling street’.
BOUDICA
Instead of being taken prisoner, Boudica took poison to kill herself so the
Romans couldn’t take her back to Rome as a prize.
Boudica was famous for
standing up to the Roman
invaders and almost driving
them out of Britain.
