Let’s put the world’s historical records online in one generation MAKING RECORDS SEARCHABLE ONLINE IN ONE GENERATION CREATING THE FAMILY TREE OF MANKIND FROM a.d. 1500 COLLABORATING WILL MAKE IT HAPPEN FamilySearch has preserved 5.3 billion records from the regions in black. An estimated 10 billion more records need to be digitally preserved from the regions in black. An additional 60 billion records need to be digitally preserved from all regions. At the current rate, it will take 200 to 300 years (about 11 generations) to index online the 5.3 billion records FamilySearch has already preserved.
