FAMILY: Hebrew: “mish-pa-chah’” means household and by extension a tribe of people, even a nation. The Greek word: “pa-tria’” refers to a family. Jehovah God is the originator of all families. (Ephesians 3:14, 15) It all began with Adam and Eve. (Genesis 5:3) Monogamy was the original standard Jehovah set for the family.

(2 Samuel 19:18 NSB) They brought David’s family and servants back across the river. They did everything he wanted them to do. Shimei crossed the Jordan River and bowed down in front of David.

(2 Samuel 19:28 NSB) »You could have killed anyone in my entire family. Instead you seated me with those who eat at your table. I no longer have the right to complain to my lord the king.«

(1 Kings 16:7 NSB) The word of Jehovah came to the prophet Jehu the son of Hanani. This was a warning against Baasha and his family because of all the evil he did in the eyes of Jehovah. He made Jehovah angry by the work of his hands, because he was like the family of Jeroboam, and because he killed him.

(1 Kings 16:11 NSB) Immediately after he became king and took his place on the throne of the kingdom, he put to death all the family of Baasha. Not one male child survived.

(1 Kings 16:12 NSB) So Zimri destroyed the entire family of Baasha as Jehovah promised through the prophet Jehu.

But they did bury his body out of respect for his grandfather King Jehoshaphat, who had done all he could to serve Jehovah. No member of Ahaziah’s family was left who could rule the kingdom.

(2 Chronicles 22:10 NSB) When King Ahaziah’s mother Athaliah learned of her son’s murder, she gave orders for all the members of the royal family of Judah to be killed.

(2 Chronicles 26:12 NSB) The total number of family heads among these warriors was twenty-six hundred.
