Not “What are you hoping for?” or “What are you hoping to do?” No, this isn’t about our de- sires for possessions or aspiraons for life, it’s “Why do you hope?” Peter today tells us that we ought to be ready to give an answer to this queson. Truth be told, few of us spend much me thinking about why we hope. Luckily, the scriptures today give us our answers. We hope because Christ suffered for us, in order that we might come to God. We hope because we know that, in the Spirit, God grants us another Advocate through Christ to remain with us always. No maer what we might hope for, whatever we might hope to do, we must always first know and proclaim the reason for our hope: the presence of God in Christ, with us through the power of the Spir- it. Prayer to Our Lady, Help of Christians

(St. John Bosco)

Most Holy Virgin Mary, Help of Christians, how sweet it is to come to your feet imploring your per-petual help. Grant then to me, I implore you, your perpetual help in all my necessities, in even sorrow, and especially in all my temptations. I ask for your unceasing help for all who are now suffering. Connecting with Young People and Families As we continue to find new ways to reach out to young people and their families during this chal-lenging time, we want to direct your attention to two Facebook links that may be of inter-est. The Diocese of London Youth Ministry Out-reach page is a place where we are sharing what is going on in youth ministry in the Diocese, and each Tuesday and Friday afternoon there is a live video discussing ways in which parishes and staff are reaching out to our families and young people.

May is the month of the Rosary We invite all parishioners to join together each morning at 9 a.m. to pray the rosary for an end to the Coronavirus, for those who have died and for those who are sick and suffering. Year of Prayer

Send forth your Spirit, O Lord, and fill the hearts of your people

with an ardent desire to follow Jesus, to be his missionary disciples.

Fill us with joy and a desire to know your word. May we boldly proclaim the Good News to others; for when we help others to know that God loves

them, they will know true happiness.

Fill us with a deep desire for the Eucharist. May we recognize Jesus

in the proclamation of the Scriptures and in the Breaking of the Bread;

for when we are united with Jesus, joy is constantly born anew.

Fill us with a true love of neighbour. May we seek opportunities for reconciliation,

and with big hearts serve those in need; for in serving them, we know we are serving your

Son. With the help of the Holy Spirit,

may we commit ourselves to loving you and doing your will.

We make this prayer through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

The parish office will be closed on Monday, May 18th for the Victoria Day Holiday.

Summer Camp Revamp We are sad to announce that summer camps, as we have come to know them, will have to be canceled for this summer. This includes our Leadership Camps as well as our Reach programs scheduled in various places around the diocese. However, we are anticipating the hiring of a number of students this summer who will assist in creating and imple-menting a number of fun and creative initiatives for families, children, and teens that will be available to a larger number of parishes and individuals than we are normally able to serve. The job postings can be found at www.dol.ca/employmentvolunteering and we encourage applications from around the dio-cese.

Please Update Contact Information In reaching out to our parishioners during the pan-demic, we have noticed that many phone numbers we have on file are no longer in service. If yours has changed, please update your phone number and e-mail address with the parish office—ext. 23 or by e-mailing [email protected]. Thank you!
