TO MAKE UPSew back seam. With RS together, pair Fronts and Backs of Ears and sew sides together, leaving base open. Turn right way out. Sew Ears to top of Hat. Sew Nose to centre of face, lightly padding with toy stuffing. Using Black DK, embroider eyes and nostrils. Cut 15cm lengths of yarn A and attach to Hat between Ears. Split strands to create hair. Using yarns A and B held together, make two 20cm plaits and attach to Ear flaps

MatchingSET!

Who doesn’t love an alpaca! With their curly hair and sweet faces, they’re a popular choice here at

LK HQ. Designer Nicola has embraced the alpaca’s Peruvian roots with these fabulous earflap hats, modelled after the animal in question. There are

sizes for adults and children and they’re super easy to knit. Because they are knitted in an aran weight

yarn, you’ll find they are pretty quick to make so you can get ahead for the upcoming autumn.

COOL RETRO HANGERS BY NICOLA VALIJI

September issue of Let’s Knit on sale

THURSDAY 30TH JULY

Stitch holders look like giant safety pins and you

can use them to keep your stitches ‘live’ while you

are working on a different section. Open up the

holder and insert the bar into your stitches as if you were going to purl them, then slide them

off your needle onto the holder. Later on, you’ll be able to knit these stitches straight from the holder.
