From Your FCS Agent

It is now October and my favorite month of the year! Leavings changing colors, children trick or treating, my birthday, and pumpkin scented candles are a few of my favorite things about October!

During September, I met with several homemaker clubs. I went to Lewis County to judge their county cultural arts contest. I held the first Make It, Take It, Try It class where we made wine glass pumpkin candle holders and tasted a Plate It Up! Kentucky Proud recipe. In partnership with the Mason County Public Library, we held a class for children on Cooking the Books. I attended and taught a lesson at Skills Day in Fleming County where we also judged the area cultural arts contest. I have been planning Truth and Consequences for October 18th and 25th. Please let me know if you’re interested in volunteering. I went to the senior center and taught a lesson on the importance of laughing and being happy. Cooking Through the Calendar was held later this month, but we prepared and sampled thyme roasted carrots.
