Fees and funding for NHS funded courses

• NHS Fees bursary for UK and EU students

• Further funding support from NHS for UK students

• Non-means tested £1,000 grant• Means-tested full bursary

• UK Students are also eligible for reduced student maintenance loan from Student Loans Company

• Students are not eligible for university bursaries, but will be eligible for academic merit scholarships and university hardship funds

• Additional support for Disabled students

• Additional income assessed allowances are available:

• For students with dependant adults and/or children• For help with practice/placement travel/accommodation costs

NB: EU students with 3 years residency in the UK are eligible for the same allowances as UK students

Applying for funding

• Apply to NHS for fees, £1,000 grant and NHS bursary

• Two original documents to confirm identity, one must include a photograph – normally birth certificate and a valid passport

• Apply to Student Finance England for reduced rate maintenance loan

• Passport No. to confirm identity

Enrol in person at beginning of autumn term

• University confirms that student has enrolled

• Money transferred to student bank account by BACS

• NHS bursary paid monthly

• Maintenance loan paid in termly instalments

Social Work funding

• Funding for Social Work courses changed from 2013

• Full tuition fee charged to students – tuition fee loan from SFE

• Students eligible for maintenance loan from SFE

• No NHS bursary in Year 1

• Limited number of NHS bursaries for years 2/3

• Students may also be eligible for University bursaries
