BOARD OF DIRECTORS: FALL/WINTER UPDATE As we get ready for the snow to start falling, the excitement is in the air for our brand new Community Swimming Pool! With the help of so many in this amazing Truckee community, our dream of an indoor pool facility is now a reality. The scheduled opening day is Sept. 5, so keep your swim trunks on this Fall/Winter to join us in the pool. We are committed to continue to improve all aspects of the Recreation and Park District, and we now have a new logo and website. The logo can be seen on the cover page of the guide, as the three circles represent community, parks & facilities, and programs. With a simplified and unique look, we hope you will now be able to identify a TDRPD run facility and program from near and far. The new website launched in May is continuously being updated and improved with more info, pictures, videos, and design. We hope you can now use our site to easily find out all the necessary information about TDRPD, and enjoy browsing our pages. We are back for another year (34th) of the Truckee Ski Swap on Nov. 5th. Get your old gear from out of the garage to sell, or join us at the Community Recreation Center on Saturday to find yourself quality gear at unbeatable prices. Our other annual events this year include the Halloween Parade, Big Truck Day, and the Art Show in the Community Recreation Center. Here at TDRPD, we are going to continue to serve you and our community to provide quality facilities with a variety of programs for your healthy mountain lifestyle. We hope to see you this Fall/Winter for a swim, ski, art, sport, lessons and much more here at Truckee-Donner Recreation & Park District.

KIDS KORNER GRADES K-5
Before & After School Program
Transition Program
TDRPD’S Kids Korner provides children with the opportunity to socialize with friends in a safe, supervised environment. Come join our energetic recreation staff for exciting, age-appropriate recreation activities for all elementary aged girls and boys. Daily programs include arts and crafts, active group games, homework time, outdoor play and snack. Located at both Glenshire Elementary School and the Community Recreation Center, these programs are convenient and flexible for both children and parents.
This children’s program is for the transition time in between getting off the bus and going to classes at the Community Recreation Center or swim lessons at the Truckee Community Pool.
The Transition Program runs from 3:30 pm until 4:15 pm. This program may only be taken in conjunction with one of the Enrichment classes or Swim Lesson Programs offered by TDRPD at the Community Recreation Center or Truckee Community Pool. The purpose of the program is to supervise children waiting for their afternoon class or swim lesson to start. Staff will meet children at the bus and/or can be dropped off by parents. Staff will be responsible for supervising and getting kids to class on time. This program also helps ensure children get off the bus and arrive at the Community Recreation Center. If a child does not get off the bus staff will immediately contact parents.
IMPORTANT: Kids MUST be able to dress themselves for their class or lesson. If your child is not able to get him or herself dressed for their program, this program is not suitable for that child and parents
or guardians must then be present to help.

A play based on the Newberry Award winning novelProduced by TCT JRThis is not a musical. Rather, it is a dramatic play developed from Katherine Paterson’s beloved story of two misfit kids who become best friends and create a rich fantasy kingdom in the woods beyond their homes. The first act is very fun-ny and entertaining, with a great script and fully developed characters that local young actors will love to play. The second act takes a disturbing turn with the death of one of the two main characters, but ends in a moving, uplifting man-ner that is very beautiful. Lots of amazing roles for good actors to tackle in this memorable play. For information on particular roles available, a synopsis of the plot, and other details, visit the Truckee Community Theater website at www.truckeecommunitytheater.com. Divorced sportswriter Oscar Madison has a group of pals over for poker one evening. His uptight and meticulous friend, Felix Unger, bursts hysterically upon the scene, devastated because his wife has thrown him out. Oscar, a confirmed slob, graciously offers to let Felix take a room in his apartment, and the stage is set for hilarious interplay as the two old buddies strain their friendship unconscious-ly repeating the same mistakes they made in their marriages. This show, Neil Simon’s most popular comedy, took Broadway by storm when it opened and won many awards.
