FALL INTO HANGE - Amazon S3...sometimes it’s not. Sometimes the timing is off and our hearts...

8
It’s happened. Fall is here. And we all know what that means – pumpkin flavored everything! Alright, that’s part of it, but fall also brings about change all around. We’ll soon begin to see the tips of trees turn into a vast array of reds and oranges while the cooler temperatures greet us with the morning dew. It seems like most of us like it when the seasons start to change. We like the arrival of the warm sun when summer arrives, but within a few months we are ready to trade it in for the rustling of leaves and smell of camp fires. And then before too long we eagerly anticipate at least one snow day before we welcome sweet spring time. Just like with the changing of seasons – our lives experience seasons of change too. Sometimes the change is welcomed and sometimes it’s not. Sometimes the timing is off and our hearts aren’t ready for what’s coming ahead. Sometimes we hold on to the past in fear of what the future might bring and how it might change us. The truth is, our lives are full of constant change. Sometimes the change is out of our control or not ours to manage. And sometimes the change presents opportunities for growth and renewal. As Christ followers we are proclaiming that we invite change in our lives as God seeks to transform us from the inside out. What change, if any, have you welcomed lately? Habits are good, but if they hold us back from growing in faith they become stumbling blocks for sure. Our worship and devotional lives (or lack thereof) are the same way. I pray you’ll take advantage of the changing of seasons outside as an opportunity to examine the changes you’re experiencing in your life. No, change isn’t always easy and the timing isn’t always right. But if we take time to embrace what God is up to in our lives it will certainly enrich our living. Our church is a busy place this fall. I hope you’ll find time to be with us as we experience all that God is up to in our midst. Transcript of FALL INTO HANGE - Amazon S3...sometimes it’s not. Sometimes the timing is off and our hearts...

It’s happened. Fall is here. And we all know what that means – pumpkin flavored everything! Alright, that’s part of it, but fall

also brings about change all around. We’ll soon begin to see the tips of trees turn into a vast array of reds and oranges while

the cooler temperatures greet us with the morning dew.

It seems like most of us like it when the seasons start to change. We like the arrival of the warm sun when summer arrives,

but within a few months we are ready to trade it in for the rustling of leaves and smell of camp fires. And then before too

long we eagerly anticipate at least one snow day before we welcome sweet spring time.

Just like with the changing of seasons – our lives experience seasons of change too. Sometimes the change is welcomed and

sometimes it’s not. Sometimes the timing is off and our hearts aren’t ready for what’s coming ahead. Sometimes we hold on

to the past in fear of what the future might bring and how it might change us.

The truth is, our lives are full of constant change. Sometimes the change is out of our control or not ours to manage. And

sometimes the change presents opportunities for growth and renewal. As Christ followers we are proclaiming that we invite

change in our lives as God seeks to transform us from the inside out.

What change, if any, have you welcomed lately? Habits are good, but if they hold us back from growing in faith they become

stumbling blocks for sure. Our worship and devotional lives (or lack thereof) are the same way. I pray you’ll take advantage of

the changing of seasons outside as an opportunity to examine the changes you’re experiencing in your life. No, change isn’t

always easy and the timing isn’t always right. But if we take time to embrace what God is up to in our lives it will certainly

enrich our living.

Our church is a busy place this fall. I hope you’ll find time to be with us as we experience all that God is up to in our midst.

Blessings,

Journey Through the Wilderness

Moses by Adam Hamilton

Come with us as we follow Adam Hamilton

through Egypt walking in the footsteps of

Moses, one of the single most important

figures in the Hebrew Bible. For us Moses’

life serves as the backdrop for much that is

found in the Gospels. We will learn to

appreciate Moses’ story since he was such an

unlikely hero. The book of Deuteronomy

ends with this statement: “No prophet like

Moses has ever emerged in Israel; Moses knew

the Lord face-to-face!”

Diploma and Beyond

Congratulations, you’ve graduated high

school! Now what? College? The military?

Trade school? The possibilities for the future

are endless.

What about your spiritual future? Many of

you have gone from an active involvement in

the youth group to nothing. You’ve aged out

of the youth group and you no longer fit in,

but, you don’t fit in with the adult groups

either. You’re just adrift, not knowing where

you belong in the church, and unsure of your

life going forward. Post-graduation has been

a big adjustment in many ways.

VRFUMC is pleased to announce the start

of our College Ministry, Diploma and

Beyond (DAB). DAB is to help individuals

ages 18-25 with life adjustments as you

discover more about who you are, how you

can re-engage with the church, and how

God’s love for you is never ending.

To ensure this ministry is beneficial to those

it serves, we need your input. If you are

between the ages of 18 and 25, come join us

at the church on Saturday, October 14th at

4:30pm for our first meeting. We will discuss

meeting frequency as well as plan events. For

more information, please contact Michelle

Garner.
