I try to remind myself each morning to live each day to the fullest, however, that has a whole new meaning to me after living through a pandemic. Like many of you, I experienced an array of emotions while sheltering at home, ranging from sadness to boredom, reminding myself all the time that common activities were now off limits. I am what is called a “socializing socializer,” which is a fancy way of saying I am a people person. Not being able to see my friends and colleagues was difficult. I derive my energy from being around others and hearing about their plans and activities, so working from home and staying focused this spring was uncomfortable. I enjoyed some of what I saw on streaming networks and social media platforms, but I really missed live productions and seeing artwork in person. While opening night is always great, it is the process of getting there, with all the affiliated groups and professionals coming together over the weeks to create something amazing, that I also missed. I missed walking down the hallway with classes of dedicated amateurs working with a great teacher to become better at their medium, little feet learning to point and voices of choirs merging with piano practice or a violin sonata. I missed the pleasure of seeing masterpieces in the making.
It is time to let the arts help heal our community and get back to what will be our new normal. Things change, but the desire to create is constant, especially when normal outlets of distraction vanish. Drop by our website to see what’s available to learn, play or just see, and join our family in your community art center. We’ll save you a seat!
Sincerely,
Tim ChapmanSuperintendent of Arts

C l a s s i c a l B a l l e tBallet is the foundation of all dance forms. It provides grace and poise while helping dancers with posture, flexibility, fitness, balance, self-discipline and self-confidence.
For the safety of our students, dancers over the age of seven require placement by our dance faculty prior to registration. Placement is based on the student’s technical ability rather than by age. Once placement has been determined, dancers will remain in that class for the full academic year. To schedule your evaluation, contact Tim Chapman at [email protected] or 770-838-1083.
Level III dancers may be eligible for Pre- Pointe class. Level IV dancers may be eligible for Pre-Pointe or Pointe. Pre-Pointe is a supplemental class that increases the strength of the calf muscles and ankles needed for dancing on pointe. To register for Pre-Pointe, students must receive a recommendation from their ballet instructor.

Classes may be canceled if minimum participation is not reached. Participants enrolled in any instructional class, camp, workshop or special event that is canceled by the Carrollton Center for the Arts will receive a full refund or may transfer the registration fee to another class being offered during that semester of programming.
Participants who cancel their registration prior to the beginning of a program will also receive full reimbursement, but a 20% handling fee will be assessed to cover our costs. NO REFUND will be made after the first camp/class session.
No refunds can be made on theatre/concert tickets. Hardships will be handled on an individual basis and MUST BE delivered in writing to the superintendent of arts. Please allow four weeks for reimbursement.
I n s t r u c t i o n a l F e e sAll fees assessed are used to further develop our programs. The majority of fees we charge are used to cover our expenses, including hiring the best qualified instructors and paying operating costs. In order to cover costs, you will see a class/workshop fee, show fees and admission fees for programs and performances. The Carrollton Center for the Arts strives to keep fees to a minimum and affordable for the community.
P e r f o r m a n c e F e eA performance fee will be assessed prior to shows performed by youth programs. This covers the costs of rehearsals outside of class, sets, props, lighting, legal rights to music/plays, costumes/uniforms, publicity and other costs associated with production.
A d m i s s i o n F e e sThe admission fee (tickets) will be assessed for public performances. Aside from admission fees adding value to any product created by the Carrollton Center for the Arts, admission fees will be used to support the production staff, including those who work behind the scenes during and after the performance.
S c h o l a r s h i p s Scholarships are available for individuals that meet the criteria. Please visit our administrative offices for more details.
Pay m e n t O p t i o n sWe offer flexible payment options for classes and workshops. Prices listed are for the fall semester. The fees may be paid all at once or in monthly installments. For details on payments options, visit carrolltonarts.com.
