Igor Stravinsky, The Rite of Spring, rehearsal 2 until rehearsal 7. (brackets are for visual convenience) 2. Hector Berlioz, Roman Carnival, Andante sostenuto until third measure of rehearsal 1. Note: Oboe excerpts are taken from Orchestra Excerpts for Oboe by John Ferrillo, which includes description of the excerpts for reference. The Holst excerpt is not included in Mr. Ferrillo’s book and, as a result, does not include a description. Only the first oboe parts should be prepared for the audition. English horn is optional. Students who wish to be considered to play English horn in an ensemble should prepare the excerpts and perform them at the audition.
