CPR/AED FOR THE COMMUNITY AGES 12+This CPR/AED certification class is done through the American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI). The class will be done in a blended style - two hours of the class will be completed online and two hours are hands on skills in the classroom. The online instructions will be sent to the participants one week before the class and will need to be completed by the date of the class. The certification covers infant, child and adult CPR and is good for two years. AMERICAN RED CROSS LIFEGUARD TRAINING AGES 15+American Red Cross Lifeguarding course teaches candidates the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Water rescues, first aid, CPR and AED certifications are obtained through this course. Students must successfully complete the pre-test skills, skills test assessment and have a written test score of 80% or higher. Register by Sep18. TEEN LEADERS AGES 12+Teen Leaders Club provides teens 7th-12th grade with knowledge, training, communication skills and valuable team-building experience through volunteering in Y programs and the community. Leaders’ Club trains teens to better serve their community and the Y as they encourage each other to make a positive impact for present and future generations. Qualifying leaders may participate in Blue Ridge Leaders’ School, a week-long school held in June in North Carolina with a main focus on fitness and leadership development. SEA LIONS SWIM TEAM AGES 4-17The Sea Lions Team is a great way for kids to get involved in competitive swimming. The Y provides a safe environment for personal growth and a healthy approach to competition. We encourage kids to develop team spirit and most of all, have FUN! We are proud members of the Piedmont YMCA Swim Association (PYSA) and are the 2012 PYSA Defending Champions. HEALTH, WELL-BEING & FITNESSHIT CAMP AGES 15+“HIT” is short for HIGH INTENSITY TRAINING. You’ll learn how to push beyond previously unconquered thresholds using basic functional movements and primitive tools. Workouts will be a combination of high intensity interval training, calisthenics, plyometric and some good ole fashioned strength exercises that will help you reach your wellness goal in no time. WEIGHT-LOSS BOOT CAMP: LAND AGES 12+*Non-members receive a temporary membership for all boot camps.This six-week boot camp is designed to help you start the fall season off right, and get you back on track.
