While she was there she put together stories of things that happened during her time on the coast. These are some excerpts from her messages. -Yep, that’s me snowboarding at Robson Square in downtown Van- couver. Like the sign says ‘You gotta be here’. Training day today took us to all the venues, including the ROO (Richmond Olympic Oval). The Olympic Village is amazing. -Busy day today as everyone is gear- ing up for tomorrow. When we went thru security last night I beeped in the scanner forgetting about my lucky penny in my left shoe. The guard laughed and asked me if I had any pennies in my other shoe. I told him it is only good luck in the left shoe. -I get the day off today. Last night was a bit crazy. We were not allowed to go downtown because of the grid- lock and protesters. One driver was stuck for five hours trying to get back to the driving compound. They end- ed up sending over a hundred driv- ers home. They did not want anyone hurt. I took a new driver around to a few venues away from downtown and then finally at 9 p.m. they sent the rest of us home. I watched the rest of the ceremonies at Kristi’s house. Wasn’t it great? -Well, I was at Cypress yesterday and our pickup spot was Mulgrave School. A beautiful school. Also, the flowers are blooming everywhere. -My shift on Friday was at the Ath- letes’ Olympic Village. One of my cli- ents I drove that day was a lady from Toronto. She was one of the organiz- ers for the RBC Torch Relay and when I showed her my torchbearer photo, we had a great chat. We talked about the weather and how there is some negative feedback on the weather and her take is that people are loving the walking and shopping. They are happy and spending money. -We went to the Victory Ceremo- nies on Saturday, with Stereophon- ics playing, and also last night with Trooper and Loverboy playing. The concert last night was great and ap- parently we are on Much Music. -Yesterday was such a busy day I didn’t get a chance to write anything. Curling was great fun and very loud and we won! This giant crab caught my interest as it looks so UFO like. The lasers are down at the bay and we were out 30 ft. on this wobbly dock but the shots were great. We went to the cauldron but I didn’t get a close enough picture. Will try again. -Ben Agosto, a U.S. athlete (Ameri- can ice skater) and his doctor/chiro- practor came up to me and wanted to go the the Pacific Coliseum. They needed to get to the coliseum and so I said I would take them and when they got in my vehicle, I asked Ben to sign my torchbearer picture. I then got a picture with Ben when I dropped them off. It was great fun. -More news tomorrow. We have an- other gold! Yahoo! -Today is a bit gloomy and they say it’s going to rain. I’m not going to let that bother me though. This man with a scarf was walking past me at the Athlete’s Village and I asked him if I could take a picture of all his pins. He is an Olympic photographer and has been collecting at each Olympic Games since 1984. He was nice enough to give me a pin from his scarf. -I received an email yesterday about Loverboy and I should tell you that Paul Dean (guitarist) is originally from Windermere - actually Dean’s Beach (which is now Terra Vista con- dos). My cousin Andrew won a few floor tickets so he gave us his two tickets that were up fairly high and then we worked our way to the front after the Victory Ceremonies were over. Front row no less - it was awe- some. -On Sunday, we went out to "Lions Peaks" which is a water reservoir for Vancouver. We were right above the dam taking some pretty scary pic- tures. We visited the cauldron. The day we were at the cauldron was crazy busy - in fact it’s busy no mat- ter where you go as the weather is so good. A lot of visitors (us included) walked the sea wall to take in all the attractions. -Well, this bird has landed. I ar- rived home yesterday afternoon, just a bit tired. I was to work today and Sunday but gave up my shifts as they have so many drivers and I felt like I’d had enough fun and didn’t want to be dead tired for work on Monday. It was a great adventure and I met a lot of super people but it’s time to get back to the real world. -The mountain air smells so good and fresh and it was strange not to see many cars driving home. I hope you have all enjoyed my little mes- sages of my daily experiences. This is Faith, signing off! Faith Saunders had a great time as a volunteer at the Olympic Games in Vancouver. While she was there she put together stories of things that happened during her time on the coast.

These are some excerpts from her messages.
