From the President of Church Council For the next several weeks, we will celebrate the wonderful memories we have enjoyed with Pastor Bodnyk over the past 24 plus years. He has
touched most of our lives in many ways and was always there and supportive in times of need. Although he will continue to be a member and worshipper at Faith, he will embark on his new life as a well-earned retiree and we ask that our members allow him to enter that new role fully. Faith Whitehall committees and all members of the congregation will have the opportunity to become involved in the “Call” process. The Call Committee is already actively involved in the process working on a “site profile”. Tim Lucas, the committee chair, will keep the congregation informed as they complete their various tasks. Church Council is very energized with the number of members expressing an interest to serve on the Call Committee, but with the Synod’s guidance, we arrived at seven members. We have a proportionate mix of new members and longtime members, male and female, youth and more mature. The congregation will have their opportunity to participate in a “vitality” survey which will occur in early September. We ask that you allow the committee to perform their tasks without interference and await Tim’s updates. While the Call process is percolating, Faith Whitehall will not be marking time. Church Council executive committee has had a meeting with Pastor Peggy Wuertele, the Bishop’s representative, to discuss the details of an Interim Pastor. We talked to Pastor Stivers about the position and at this time he didn’t feel comfortable with the rigors of a full-time position. At the time of this writing, the executive committee is in constant contact with Pastor Wuertele as we search for an additional part-time pastor. Hopefully, we can achieve our goal of having an agreement with a pastor in July. We will be diligent in providing the congregation information on a timely basis. In the meantime, we ask that you support Pastor Stivers as we move forward as God’s servants at Faith Whitehall, in the community and beyond. One of the exciting outcomes of congregation self-evaluation is the opportunity to evaluate where we are today and what we want to become tomorrow and in the future. We want to use this process to re-energize Faith Whitehall, not wait for our new Pastor, but pull together now and set new goals and strive to meet them. We have an opportunity to excel, grab the rope of opportunity and pull together in ONE direction to be the best we can be! Yours in Christ, Mike Miller Status of Organ and Capital Funds Giving through May The organ fund giving for May year-to-date is $3,150. The total for 2018 was $14,250 bringing the total to-date to $17,400. The capital fund (roof, parking lot) total for 2019 year-to-date is $1,651. The 2018 total was $6,594 bringing the grand total to-date to $8,245. We thank everyone for their continued support to these two funds. We just paid an invoice to repair a portion of the lower parking lot for $39,400 with one additional invoice to come. It is important that we continue to grow these funds over time. Thanks again for your support.

Call Committee July Update
The Call Committee has started the process of finding a new pastor to bring before
the congregation for their approval. The process is a partnership with the Bishop and
his staff and can take many months. The following chart reviews the steps we will be
following and how the Bishop helps coordinatesour final selection. Each month we
will provide updates and the details of each step.
The first step requires the Call Committee and the congregation to provide data for a Parish Study Book. This is
the resource that interested pastors can review and study to determine if they would like to be considered as
possible candidates for FELC. The Study Book is created on-line as an e-book and is housed on the Bishop’s
computer server. Interested candidates are given access to the Study Book by the Bishop.
The Study Book requires information from three different sources. The first source of data is a Ministry Site Profile
that is researched and written by the Call Committee using a 17-question form that profiles our church. The main
sections include Who We Are, Our Vision for Mission, Leadership Needs, Commentary, and Completion of Profile.
This reviews our history, current status, and future goals.
The second source of information for the Study Book is a 4-question questionnaire that every member of the
church will be asked to complete. The questionnaire will be distributed to the congregation several weeks before
it needs to be collected, so members can write their responses at home and hand them in on a specific Sunday. We
hope to have the questionnaire process completed by the beginning of September. A member of the Bishop’s staff
will enter all of the responses into the Study Book.
The final source of data for the Study Book will be a Vitality Survey. This is a ten-minute survey that will be
completed by the congregation during our worship services on a specific Sunday in October. This survey is used
nationally by the Lutheran Church and provides insights on our relationship to God, our relationship to other
members of the church, and our relationship to the larger community around the church. We enter the data from
this survey into the Study Book.
One of our goals is to keep you informed as to where we are in the process. Please contact Tim Lucas
([email protected]) if you have any questions or comments.
Yours in Christ – The Call Committee

The Altar Guild is in need of volunteers for first and second
services. Altar Guild volunteers set up the altar for each service and
clean up after each service. Our volunteers usually arrive at least a
half hour before a service begins and stay until everything is cleaned
up. (Usually, about 15 to 20 minutes after each service.) We also decorate and undecorate the
church for Food Pantry Sunday (Harvest Home), Advent Season, Easter, and Pentecost. Men and
women can volunteer, and we will train you on the job. If interested, you will placed on the
schedule with a veteran altar guild person for training. We usually work in pairs so you will never
be alone. If you are interested, please contact Cathy Haller at (610) 266-8762
or [email protected]. I will be happy to explain the job in more details to you.
Don't have time to commit to regular rehearsals? Life got you going in a
million directions? Busy, busy!!! Well, now's your chance to glorify God
in song. Calling all vocalists and instrumentalists who would like to share
their talents in church during a Sunday summer worship service.
Anyone interested, please contact Jennifer Kishbaugh at (610) 451-8660
