Welcome to our very rst issue of Faith Connections, our new ministry newsletter.

I’m pleased to have this new resource that will enable us to stay in touch with you and keep you informed of all the exciting things taking place not only at The Faith Center, but in Henry Fernandez Ministries and University of Ft. Lauderdale.

II’m particularly excited that this rst issue of Faith Connections is being released as we celebrate 25 years in ministry. This milestone in the history of The Faith Center and Henry Fernandez Ministries is one of tremendous blessing to me, in particular, and to everyone God has connected with us. Over the years, we have seen God’s blessings manifest in tremendous ways. And, as we prepare for the next 25 years, we know the best is yet to come.

As our partners, friends and members, you have and continue to play a major part of everything we do here at HFM/TFC. We are grateful to God that you have chosen stay connected with us.

TThrough Faith Connections, we will keep you informed regarding special events and activities taking place throughout the year. We’ll also make you aware of any new resource materials as they are developed, and share how you can be involved in scheduled events.

As we enter the mid-point of the year, we look forward to spending time with you. Thank you for choosing to come alongside us in ministry. We thank God that you are part of this ministry, and look forward to spending many more years together—doing all He has called us to do to help build His kingdom.

These words best describe Nation Shakers, the exciting youth ministry of The Faith Center formerly known as SYNC (Staying Young and Connected). Though the name has changed, the mission of this young, energetic group remains the same: To positively impact the lives of young Christians.

Nation Shakers targets young adult and college ministries with a goal to help develop the well-rounded, maturing young believer—not only focusing on spiritual development but professional and social as well.

“We service all demographics, including married, single, divorced, and widowed individuals,” says Candace Smith, director of Nation Shakers college ministry.

NNation Shakers has developed a strategic plan to help develop 1,000 young believers in their faith and love for God over the next three years. The young adult ministry has attracted many new faces, and is helping them to cultivate a hunger for God’s Word through Plugged In, a Bible study group that meets bi-weekly.

FAITH UNCOVEREDParticipants are welcomed into a safe and comfortable atmosphere where they are encouraged to be themselves. No topic is off limits in these sessions, according to Smith.

“The more you feed them, the more they grow,” says Nation Shakers director, Avi Ambroise. “They aren’t just after milk, they want the meat of God’s Word.”

It is the goal of Nation Shakers to eventually connect with young adults in churches in the local community, as well as globally. Currently, the group has strategically conducted some of its events alongside an alternative school in Lauderhill, a city near Fort Lauderdale, in an effort to impact youth in that area.

““We have a large harvest that we want to reach,” Smith explains. “We have to train the people so we can send them out into the local mission eld.”

Nation Shakers college ministry is already impacting the lives of students in Florida and as far away as Washington, D.C. and New York, by sending them “care packages” lled with such things as gift cards, food items and ministry resources.

The ministry also makes bi‐weekly visits to the campus of Florida Atlantic University, taking food and beverages, to minister and create a sense of familiarity with students. Soon, the college ministry plans to begin hosting Plugged In Bible studies on campus.

InIn the future, Nation Shakers plans to collaborate with more churches regarding events and outreach. The ministry is also gearing up for the its rst annual conference and block party in September.

1991 1992 1993 1999

1991 - Henry Fernandez Ministries is birthed under a tree! While renting space at a local church, Henry set up shop in a shaded area in front of the church. At the product table, sermon cassettes were sold and Henry dedicated himself to excellent customer service by shaking every hand.

1992 - The rst television broadcast was produced through a small investment in an older camera set. The pre-recorded sermons were duplicated through cassette tapes and sent out to the community. Once the buzz was created, the official TV show, called Faith That Works, was established. The weekly program was broadcast on local Channel 33, and available to viewers in thousands of households.

1993 1993 - Henry Fernandez hosted Jehovah Jireh, his rst official conference. This conference was designed to help enable people to understand and live in God’s divine provision beyond monetary blessings. Dr. Myles Munroe was the keynote speaker. Now known as the International Believer’s Conference, this annual event has featured such powerhouse ministers and psalmists at including: I.V. Hilliard, Sam Hinn, Bishop T.D. Jakes, Creo Dollar, Vicki Yohe, Tasha Cobbs, Travis Greene and Israel Houghton.

19991999 - Formerly known as Plantation Worship Center, the church was became The Faith Center, a name that was inspired by very milestone that was generated through faith. With such a big transition, faith became the cornerstone for the elevation that occurred throughout the ministry in the years to come.

1999 2009 2013 MOVING FORWARD1999 - Henry Fernandez published his rst book, titled Divine Love. He has since authored 14 additional books, including his Amazon No. 1 bestseller Faith, Family, and Finances.

2009 - University of Fort Lauderdale (UFTL) became a fully accredited university. Since its inception in 1995, UFTL’s mission has been to prepare students to become world-changers by utilizing their academic, moral, social and economic values acquired through education. UFTL offers undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degrees in a variety of elds, including business administration, ministry and liberal studies.

20132013 - Henry Fernandez debuted as a playwright with the release of two stage places in Atlanta and Ft. Lauderdale. You’re Never Alone and When It All Falls Apart are powerful productions that depict real life drama and the assurance of God’s presence. Talented artists such as Melanie Amaro, James Fortune, Javen, Chrisette Michelle and Tony Terry were featured in these productions.

MMOVING FORWARD - Bishop Henry Fernandez continues to successfully navigate through uncharted territories. Under his direction, the ministry recently completed construction of an in-house TV studio, provide state-of-the –art equipment with which to better reach people around the world with the saving message of Jesus Christ. In 2017, the best-selling author plans to release a new book to encourage believers to recognize the provision of God and their role in the kingdom. FFernandez remains a sought-after international speaker who has traveled the world to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ in such countries as South Africa and the United Arab Emirates. He continues to expand his ministry by creating events such as Faith Fest 2016, which will draw hundreds of believers and feature top gospel artists and ministers when it takes place October 27-29 in the Bahamas.

4:12Growing Up In Faith With 4:12 Ministries Statistics show that 70 percent of youth raised in Christian households leave their faith within the rst year after graduating from high school. Unfortunately, an inherited belief system is not enough to sustain the spiritual development of emerging young adults.

That’s a fact 4:12 Ministries knows very well.

AA strong ministry of encouragement to our youth, 4:12 Ministries has its roots in the scripture found in 1 Timothy 4:12, which states: “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”

The ministry’s goal is to encourage youth to strive to become all God has purposed or planned for them to be, and teaches them how to take ownership of their God-given gifts and talents to attain success and victory in life.

““We’re teaching them how to be future leaders and to serve in ministry,” said Adrienne Brown, who, along with her husband, Walter, have served as youth directors for 10 years. “We’re not teaching them to just be pew-sitters.”

4:124:12 Ministries is denitely making strides toward accomplishing its goal, according to Michael King, a high school senior who has been involved in the program for nine years. King credits 4:12 Ministries with helping him to understand biblical concepts and principles, and how to apply them to real-life situations. “It is a safe place, where I can be myself and not be judged,” King said, who added that being part of 4:12 Ministries has helped him avoid making wrong decisions.

“Even when they think we are not paying attention to the lessons, we’re listening and it sticks with us,” King said. 7

DARE 2 CAREThe Bible states in Proverbs 19:17, The Message, “Mercy to the needy is a loan to GOD, and GOD pays back those loans in full.”

Mercy to the needy!

That’s a big part of our mission here at Henry Fernandez Ministries: To help those in need, to show them the love of Jesus Christ, and teach them how to develop a lifestyle of faith each and every day by being faithful to God and His purpose for their lives.

AAnd much of that mission is being accomplished through The Faith Center’s Dare to Care benevolence ministry, which provides food, clothing and other necessities for more than 400 area families each week throughout the year. In addition, Dare to Care provides meals to families for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Now in its twelfth year, Dare to Care began in 2004 by feeding an average of 10 people twice a month. Today, the ministry has grown to providing food and other items for more than 350 individuals, and helping take care of the material needs of as many as 400 families each week.

AAll around the world, people are suffering. And while we’re doing our part by sharing Jesus and His love, there is much more we can do to demonstrate that love. Jesus puts it this way in Mathew 25:35, New King James Version: “For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in.”

Through Dare to Care, we’re making a difference! We’re bridging the gap between the fortunate and the less fortunate by sharing the love of God and helping make provision for those in need.
