FROM RUTHANNE’S DESK
For the secular world, Easter is just one day, but for the Christian Church it is an
entire season. Seven Sundays to ponder, reflect and celebrate the mysteries of
Easter. Fifty days to consider the impact of the resurrection on your life. Fifty
days to doubt, to be skeptical, to wrestle with your guilt and your faith, to be be-
wildered and amazed.
The disciples were transformed by the resurrection but it happened over a period
of time rather than all at once. And on Pentecost they were empowered by the
Holy Spirit. After that the disciples acted boldly and compassionately to follow in
Christ’s footsteps and serve people who were hungry, oppressed, imprisoned or
poor. In doing so, they empowered others, established the church, and built vital
communities.
In April, the PCUSA initiated a movement calling Presbyterian congregations to
follow in the Christ’s footsteps by caring for people who are hungry, oppressed,
imprisoned or poor. In doing so we can become a more relevant community, a
Matthew 25 community. To find out more about Matthew 25 communities go to

of what we commonly refer to as the birthday of the Church. Join in the celebra-
tion by wearing red.

Like us on Facebook. For those in the Faith Community that are tech savvy this
is not an unusual phrase but for those who don't "do" Facebook you might be
thinking "What?" or "Why would anyone want to do that?" Church Facebook
pages and websites have become the new "front door to the church" and serve as
the Yellow Pages for a new generation.
When someone is looking for a church they go to their computer and search for
"Churches near me." Between the website and the Facebook page you can find
basic information like worship times, and also get a feel for the church before you
ever step in the door.
If you’re on Facebook and haven't ‘liked’ Faith yet, please consider doing so. If
you already like us, share our posts on your page. By supporting Faith through
the Facebook page you help spread the word about the awesome Faith Family.

FAITH COMMUNITY SUCCESSFUL SPRING RUMMAGE SALE
Faith Community kept very busy the week of May 5-10 with a successful Spring rummage sale. Total profit
was $2,758. The proceeds will benefit the Everyone Eats Soup Kitchen at the Spirit of Hope Church in De-
troit where Faith serves the first Wednesday of every month and on holidays. A huge Thank You to everyone
who brought in donations, helped with set-up, sorted and priced items, helped with sales, made purchases,
and helped with packing and clean-up! Much of the unsold remnants were donated to Purple Heart, and other
clothing and household goods will be taken to the soup kitchen to distribute. Thank you one and all for your
outstanding efforts!

POSTAL CARRIERS DELIVER 7,065 POUNDS OF FOOD
Last year it rained, and this year road crews slowed down travel on 10 Mile! But once again, a faithful crew
of “sorters” came and conquered all obstacles to make the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on May 11 a suc-
cess. Volunteers who came to Faith for the 27th annual Food Drive sorted and shelved over 7,065 pounds of
canned and boxed food collected by Novi postal carriers and delivered to faith. This annual event is the big-
gest source of food donations for the Novi Emergency Food Program housed at Faith. Special thanks to the
postal carriers (who also provided a great lunch) and to the following people who came to help.

PRESBYTERY FOR SUMMER
CEREAL COLLECTION
The 4th annual Presbytery Cereal for summer collection
started at Faith Community on May 12th. Food insecu-
rity is a serious issue for many children and families,
especially in the summer when reduced school lunch
programs are not available. Half of the cereals collected
will stay in Novi and half will be taken to the June Pres-
bytery meeting on June 25 by Faith representatives.
Please bring your donations in by Monday, June 24 and
place them in the box in the narthex. Thank you!!
RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE
Faith Community will be hosting a Red Cross
Blood Drive on Thursday, October 10 from
1:00- 7:00 pm. Mark your calendars!
The sign-up website is already set up for Faith by
the Red Cross on www.redcross.org. The Sponsor
Code is FCPCN. You can sign up for your appoint-
ment anytime. There are 2 slots opened every 15
minutes. Walk-ins are welcomed. Donors can give
blood every 56 days and every unit can save 3
lives. For complete donor requirements and helpful
guidelines, please visit www.redcross.org. We will
have flyers available for you to invite family,
neighbors and friends to donate. “The Need is Con-
stant. The Gratification is Instant. Give Blood.”
We will also need volunteers to recruit and register
donors, serve snacks, and provide refreshments to
Red Cross workers.

LIVING WATERS FOR THE WORLD MISSION
In early April, David VanZoest and Mark Turner journeyed to Guatemala to sign a covenant with the Evan-
gelistic Church of San Pedro. This covenant would form the agreement between our churches to install,
train and establish a purified water station for the region of San Pedro. We agreed that the water system will
be installed adjacent to the church in San Pedro and will serve the local community as well as 4 nearby
communities which are too small to have their own systems.
Pastor Domingo and the pastors of the neighboring churches welcomed us with a nice lunch and enthusias-
tic conversation. All of the pastors agreed to help us install the system in November and to use the clean
water to spread the word of God throughout their villages. This will give them the ability to reach more
than 250 families in need and to donate 20% of the water to those that cannot afford to purchase the water.
In addition to setting up the new site, we visited the two existing sites in San Lucas and Cerro de Oro. The
San Lucas church is thriving and even made enough money this year to purchase a pick up truck to expand
their delivery service. The Cerro church is providing water to the local community but is in need of support
and prayers as they determine how to expand their outreach.
Please keep these communities in your prayers and help us to continue to raise the funds to make the new
installation a possibility. In Him all is possible!

FAITH COMMUNITY DONATES BEDDING
TO FOSTER CARE KIDS
May was Foster Care Month! There are thousands
of children in Foster Care in Michigan without
proper beddings to sleep on at night. Because of the
caring and generous hearts of the Faith Community
congregation, Missions Committee is able to donate
20 sets of new sheets, pillowcases, shams, and com-
forters to share God’s Love with children who may
feel neglected and unloved through no fault of their
own. Kids sharing with kids!! Thank you Faith
Community!
