June 15 Fall Portfolio deadlineNovember 15 Spring Portfolio deadline

Portfolio

Your portfolio consists of a questionnaire, examples of your work, and inventory list. Your portfolio informs the Department about your creative interests, experience, skills, and direction. Choose your best work and present it professionally.

Questionnaire

For each question (Past, Present and Future), write a 100 - 250 word answer in paragraph form. Proofread your written answers for spelling, grammar, and sentence structure.

Past - What aspects of your background prepare you for a university New Media degree program with a creative focus?

Present - The BFA (New Media) program requires an extraordinary commitment of time and energy. Explain why you feel you are prepared to make this commitment at this time in your life.

Future - What do you hope to learn from our New Media program?

Examples of Work

Submit 10-20 current examples that provide a good representation of your fine arts interests and skills. Examples can be submitted in any or all of these areas. (Do not send originals.)

Art: Can include, but is not limited to, photographs, sculptures, paintings, drawings, printmaking, and ceramics.

Theatre/Drama: Collection of images (reviews, photos, programs) or video.

Music: Audio or video of your performances or copies of your compositions.

New Media: Can include, but is not limited to, computer generated still images, moving images (video or animation), and web designs.

Inventory List

Include an inventory list of all submissions with titles, materials, date of work, collaborators (if relevant), and a short description, your name, and contact information.

Essay (Optional)

If you do not have access to the necessary technology, you can submit an essay instead of providing examples of work. In the first paragraph address the reasons why you decided to submit an essay rather than examples. The essay (about 750 words) should discuss or explain your definition of new media and its importance to your professional development. Include your name and contact information. Note: you must also do the questionnaire as part of your submission.
