Introduction

1-1 Historical Background
King Abdulaziz University – Faculty of Tourism (KAUFT) - Jeddah –
was established based on the decision # 4/5//54/41, issued by the
council of higher education at its forty fifth-board meeting held on
4151454/41 H
1-2 Faculty Vision
The Faculty of Tourism aims to be a trusted supplier of hospitality, travel
and tourism management talents in KSA. To be a leader when it comes to
tourism education in KSA and be recognized as such by concerned
stakeholders.
1-3 Faculty Mission
To develop the hospitality and tourism industry with human resources
who are able to deliver quality at international standards of excellence,
thereby facilitating the local development of globally competitive
products and services.
1-4 Faculty objectives
4. Teach & train theoretical and practical academic programs that
match with the most recent updates in Hospitality & Tourism
world
4. Prepare qualified human resources able to work in the above
mentioned sectors by the optimal investment of university
available recourses and abilities
3. Raise tourism awareness among Saudi society
/. Participating in Saudization initiatives by holding introductions
seminars about the Faculty and participation in relevant national &

1-5 Faculty Admission Requirements (General
conditions)
4. Students who got 7/7 from their high school degree in both
science and literature will be accepted to the program, by taking
carrying capacity of the KAUTI into consideration and aligned
with KAU regulations.
4. Students are expected to pass the English language test with ‘very
good’.
3. Admission is open to students who fulfill the requirements above
and to those studied the preparatory year to the Path of Art and
Humanities.

The vision that KAUTI aim for is to be a hub of knowledge
acquisition and transmission in both academic fields of tourism and hospitality and the national tourism industry. We aim to achieve this by essentially and simply continuing development of both departments into the
graduate degree levels.

2-1-1 Summary
As one of the oldest universities in the Kingdom, King Abdulaziz
University (KAU) has been offering programs since the 4971s. A
primary provider of higher education in the Kingdom, the University is
highly interested in continuing to provide innovative and quality
education.
Tourism Institute (KAUTI) - Jeddah was established by the Council of
Higher Education in its forty-fifth board meeting held on 4151454/41 H.
The decision to establish KAUTI was taken to meet the strategic tourism
development plan requirements put forth by the government of Saudi
Arabia. The Institute aims to be a trusted supplier of hospitality, travel
and tourism management talents and a leader in tourism education in
KSA.
Event Management Department proposes the bachelors degree in event
management degree with the provision to its students with high quality
training experiences that comply with the requirements of the Event,
Tourism and Hospitality industries that meet the mission and goals of
KAU.
Then The faculty of Tourism at King Abdul-Aziz University prepared
and studied a Market Research about launching new degree in Event
Management Program to improve the quality of its academic programs.
.
The Faculy of Tourism has excellent teaching facilities equipped with
high technology that is updated frequently. This advantage creates an
environment that is conducive to teaching and learning, In addition, all
classrooms are wired for network access. Therefore, all the University’s
network resources are accessible in every classroom. Most faculty
members use the IT resources extensively in the delivery of their courses.
Our programs emphasize quality education, research, service, and
community development. The Event Mangement Department will develop
successful professionals who become productive members of various
organizations. Thus, our programs are central in achieving the mission of
the Faculty.

Event Mangement Departement aspires to be an academic
leader recognized for innovation and quality in Event
Mangement teaching and learning .And train students to achieve
academic excellence through a modern curriculum . The
department will provide an intellectual climate, where Event
Mangement students interact with other students .

To educate leaders , teach coursrs with state of art methodology , enrich
students experience and be as Model for Saudi arabia and the region .
7-0-4 Department Objectives
Students will achieve academic excellence through a modern
curriculum academic programs that match the most recent updates
in Event Industry . The curriculum will be up-to-date so as to meet
the needs of the emerging workforce.
Building healthy and strong relations with the partners in the
society is a high priority for the department
Students will be provided with opportunities for experiential
learning through course work and extracurricular activities and the
Focuse will be on ( Savoir Etre et Savoir Vivre ) How To Be &
How To Live

students where they can interact with differents students from other
department and that will enrch thiere experience
Preoare students to demonstrate a critical understanding of the
principles and methods of working appropriate to their industries

private tourism sectors.
Focuse on practical management skills relevant to the sectors.
Develop and improve the study and training plans to confirm with
the university strategic planning.
Qualify students to be able to meet the challenges presented by a
career in a national and international environments .
Offer a program that is aligned with national (NCAAA) and
international (Tedqual, ICHRIE, so on) education quality
standards.
7-0-2 Compliance with the faculty objectives and
mission The Hospitality Management Department upholds the mission statement
of the faculty which stems from the University mission and objectives.
The only adjustment is that it has been contextualized for the needs of the
Hospitality industry.

7-0-2 Department Admission Requirement (general
conditions)
The conditions of the University and KAUFT.
4. The Candidate should pass the preparatory year for the Faculty of
Tourism.
4. The Candidate should pass English fluency standards set by KAU.
3. Student of the Faculty of Tourism is not entitled to transfer to another
major with the university.
7-0-2 Attendance
Attendance
4. A student is allowed a 4/7 rate of absenteeism for each course in a
given semester.
4. Three (3) Letters of Warning will be sent to the student by KAUFT as
follows:
At a rate of (417) absenteeism, the first letter of warning.
At a rate of (4/7) absenteeism, the second letter of warning.
At a rate of (417) absenteeism, the third letter of warning.
Each warning letter must be signed by the student.
3. Sick leave must be submitted to the Course Instructor as soon as the
student reports back to classes.
/. Sick leave should be submitted with an officially signed medical
report issued by the National Guard Health Affairs (NGHA) health
care facilities, when possible.
/. No semester drop is allowed for newly enrolled students.
6. Applications for semester drop must be submitted no later than the 6th
week of the semester.
7. Applications for withdrawal must be submitted no later than the /th
week before the final examination.
OR
Absence exceeding 4/7 of course classes is the ground for granting a
grade of “Denied” (DN), and being denied admission to the final exam of

the course. Students with absence of 4/7-/17 may submit an excuse
request to the KAUTI supported by proper documentation.
7-0-8 Progression from year to year
. Progression from year to year
Event Management students will be given the introductory courses
at the beginning of their studies.
Followed by Supervisory and Managerial courses.
Moreover, the Two internships that students are required to
complete provides them with Understanding of the inner works of
the Event and Hospitality industry in more details.
7-0-9 Program completion or Graduation
requirements
To obtain a Bachelor Degree, all students must satisfy the following:
4. Have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 477/
4. Complete 434 credits according to the following:
• University Requirements: 47 credits
• Faculty Requirements (Compulsory): 4/ credits
• Free Courses Requirements: 6 credits
• Department Requirements (Compulsory and Elective+): 1/ credits
+Department electives: students choose courses from list of electives
offered by its department.
7-0-01 Student Appeals
KAUFT is serious about creating an honest and ethical learning
environment. KAUFT will not tolerate dishonest actions such as cheating
and plagiarism, or disruptive behavior that violates its rules and conduct
expectations. Offenders will be subject to punishment in accordance with
student disciplinary regulations as issued by the University Council.
KAUFT reserves the right to use various means to detect and document
dishonest conduct.
Any disputes regarding students will be processed within the guidelines
stated in KAU student handbook pages 3/ and 13.
