• Arwa Alumran received her Ph.D. in Health from Queensland university of Technology, Australia in June 2014.
She has been working as an Assistant Professor in the Health Information Management and Technology
Department in Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University, Saudi Arabia since 2014.
• Dr. Arwa’s work is focused on Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research methodology. She has been involved
in more than 4 consultations and conducted over 8 research projects.
• Dr. Arwa contributed to the establishment and development of the Public Health Department within the

Brief Description of Undergraduate Courses Taught: (Course Title – Code: Description) 1 HIMT 221 (Basic Biostatistics): This course will enable the students to contextualize the use of biostatistics
as a part of a health information management team responsible to provide basic skills in statistical evaluation and analysis. The course is intended to qualify students to professionally assess the quality of health care by designing sampling techniques required for assessment, collecting and managing data, presenting data, analyzing and interpreting data, and utilizing statistical information for evidence based practices for decision making purposed regarding policy change in the health sector.
2 HIMT 224 (Introductory Epidemiology): This is an introductory course in Epidemiology. It introduces the basic concepts in Epidemiology and the covers the different study designs used in Epidemiology. It causation and logical thinking in Epidemiology. The course also covers the epidemiology of Saudi Arabia.
3 HIMT 415 (Analytical Biostatistics): This course will enable students to be part of health information
management team responsible for/involved in designing research in the field of health care management and quality of health care delivery, analyzing data using statistical softwares such as: Minitab and SPSS. They are also expected to interpret research results to support the decision making process.
4 HIMT 411 (Research Methodology): This course provides the fundamentals of research designs particularly as they pertain to health services research and health information management and technology. The aim is to prepare students to be able to utilize research in their future careers, and train them to have their decisions for a safe, and quality health care based on valid, reliable and relevant evidence determined by sound scientific research.

Brief Description of Postgraduate Courses Taught: (Course Title – Code: Description) 1 MQPS603 (Application of Biostatistics): This course introduces students to the essential concepts of
descriptive and inferential statistics and the applied application of statistical methods in the field of healthcare quality improvement and patient safety. Topics covered include basic probability concepts, estimation methods, hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, ANOVA, t-‐test, Chi-‐square, correlation and multiple regression. Practical computer lab sessions are conducted to allow students to practice data cleaning, data management and different estimation methods. Both Minitab and SPSS are used.
