Desde hace unos años, la Universidad de Navarra ha marcado como uno de sus objetivos principales la internacionalidad, entendida como una apertura al mundo desde la propia institución, su personal y profesorado y, por supuesto, la de sus alumnos.

Queremos gente que conozca idiomas y culturas diferentes, que entiendan el mundo en el que viven, que puedan adaptarse a múlti-ples contextos y que lleguen a comprender su potencial como líderes en un mundo global. Among the key objectives set by the University of Navarra a few years ago was its international dimension. In other words, it seeks to pro-mote a global mindset within the institution itself, among the staff and faculty and, of course, among the students.

We want our students to be familiar with different languages and cultures, to understand the world they live in, to be able to adapt to various settings and to recognize their potential as leaders in a global world. To achieve this, the School of Humanities and Social Sciences has developed an International Program for all single and double degrees:• Includes required and elective subjects in English to improve competence in the language and develop vocabulary related to the discipline. • Promotes travel abroad through a mandatory exchange program and a further optional one.• Is innovative and includes up to eight seminars with in-ternational speakers in order to gain a global perspective in the degree programs.• Encourages its students to complete a research period in another country.• Involves undertaking the Final Year Project in English.

The School’s International Office supports and advises students who pursue this program. It also manages the partnership agreements with more than 60 universi-ties in 20 different countries. Mención en GestiónCultural y del Patrimonio Aporta al alumno una primera especialización en la gestión de contenidos y actividades de carácter cultural.

El alumno puede optar por ampliar sus conocimientos sobre Historia y Arte o bien sobre cuestiones relacio-nadas directamente con el Patrimonio o por combinar ambos. También se ofertan asignaturas que permiten adquirir conocimientos y competencias vinculados con la financiación y la comercialización de activi-dades y servicios culturales. La mención tiene un carácter oficial y hay que cursar 48 ECTS.

Itinerario en Empresa y Recursos HumanosTiene como objetivo dar una formación básica en aspec-tos relacionados con la ges-tión empresarial, cursando un mínimo de 24 ECTS entre una serie de asignaturas de la Facultad de Económicas.

Este conocimiento más teórico se ve reforzado por la posibilidad de realizar las prácticas obligatorias del 3er y 4º curso en departamen-tos de marketing y recursos humanos, así como realizar el Trabajo Fin de Grado sobre una de estas disciplinas.

Specialization in Cultural and Heritage ManagementThis program provides students with an initial specialization in the manage-ment of cultural content and activities.

Students can choose to broaden their knowledge of history and art or heritage-re-lated matters, or to combine both aspects. The program also includes subjects that provide students with knowl-edge and skills associated with the funding and market-ing of cultural activities and services. This is an official specializa-tion, and students must take 48 ECTS credits.

Business and Human Resources PathwayThis aims to provide basic training in aspects of busi-ness management. Students must take a minimum of 24 ECTS credits from a series of subjects taught by the School of Economics and Business Administration.

This mainly theoretical training is underpinned by the option to undertake the obligatory internship in the Third and Fourth Year in mar-keting and human resources departments and conduct the Final Year Project on one of these disciplines.

La Facultad de Filosofía y Letras y el Museo Universi-dad de Navarra han lanza-do este curso académico 2014 – 2015 los estudios de Humanidades + Diploma en Estudios Curatoriales (240 ECTS), con el objetivo de formar profesionales con una formación humanística, técnica e interdisciplinar que les permita ser capaces de generar ideas y proyectos que se materialicen en expo-siciones.

¿Qué son estos estudios?What are thesestudy programs?

El curador es un profesional capaz de generar proyectos artísticos con la finalidad de ser comunicados y difun-didos al público. Su labor fundamental es la de diseñar el relato del proyecto, inves-tigar sobre sus contenidos, proponer nuevos enfoques y lecturas del mismo, coordi-nar su puesta en marcha y ejecución, planificar progra-mas didácticos y contribuir a su proyección pública. Cuando el proyecto sea

expositivo, el curador debe conseguir, además, que el discurso sea eficaz visual-mente en total integración con el espacio donde va a ser presentado. En el ámbito hispánico esta figura está asimilada a la del “comisario artístico”.

El Diploma de Estudios Curatoriales está vinculado a los proyectos docentes del Museo Universidad de Nava-rra. Los alumnos del Diploma

tendrán la oportunidad de mantener encuentros con los comisarios de exposi-ciones temporales, asistir a los proyectos creativos que desarrollan los artistas invitados y de dialogar con estos. Podrán participar en las actividades de progra-mación pública y de artes escénicas, recibir sesiones impartidas por profesionales de la conservación, la crítica de arte, la comunicación…

This academic year (2014-2015), the School of Hu-manities and Social Sciences and the Museum University of Navarra have launched the Degree in Humanities + Diploma in Curatorial Studies (240 ECTS credits) with the aim of training students to become professionals with the humanistic, technical and interdisciplinary skills that will enable them to generate ideas and projects resulting in exhibitions.

The Diploma in Curato-rial Studies is linked to the teaching projects undertaken by the Museum University of Navarra. Those studying the diploma program will have the opportunity to hold meetings with the art cura-tors of temporary exhibitions, assist with creative projects undertaken by guest artists and converse with these artists. They will have the opportunity to participate in public programming and performing arts activities and attend sessions held by professionals from the areas of conservation, art criticism and the media.

En todas las actividades, las explicacio-nes corrieron a cargo de los alumnos, al inscribirse el via-je dentro de la metodología práctica de la asignatura de cara a su calificación final.

Since this is a degree in which the subjects are based primarily on knowledge of past events, the School strives to introduce innova-tive teaching methods year after year in order to make the program more appealing and link it to the present day and modern society.

An example of these efforts is the annual trip to Madrid that is taken as part of the subject “History of Art and Culture in Contemporary Spain.” In April 2014, the activities kicked off with a visit to the Library, Archive and Documentation Service at the Museo Nacional del Prado, where the Manager of the Documentation and Archive Service told the stu-dents about the work they do and the technical and docu-ment management required for every single work of art in the museum’s collection. The afternoon’s task was to analyze Madrid’s urban architecture and sculpture, and the following day the students visited the Museo Nacional del Prado and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía. Through-out all of the activities, the students were responsible for proposing explanations, since the trip forms part of the subject’s practical meth-odology and counts towards their final grade.

Uno de los puntos fuertes de los departamentos es la cantidad y calidad de las prácticas que se ofrecen, nacionales e internacio-nales. Desde hace unos años, varios alumnos han realizado prácticas en las excavaciones arqueológi-cas en la ciudad romana de Los Bañales. En 2014 fueron siete y entre ellos se encontraba Jesús Dorado, estudiante de Historia + Periodismo.

One of the strengths of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences is the number and quality of national and international internships. Over the last number of years, a number of students have car-ried out practical work at archaeological sites in the Roman city of Los Bañales. Seven students did so in 2014, including Jesús Do-rado, a student of History + Journalism.

El Diploma de Estudios Curatoriales está vinculado a los proyectos docentes del Museo Universidad de Nava-rra. This interdisciplinary education (History, Geography and Art) helps them understand the past and interpret the pre-sent so they can help build the future.

This academic year (2014-2015), the School of Hu-manities and Social Sciences and the Museum University of Navarra have launched the Humanities study programs + Diploma in Curatorial Studies (240 ECTS credits) with the aim of training students to become professionals with the humanistic, technical and interdisciplinary skills that will enable them to generate ideas and projects resulting in exhibitions.

Curators are professionals capable of creating artis-tic projects with a view to communicating and dissemi-nating them to the public. Their fundamental task is to design the project narra-tive, research its content, suggest new approaches and interpretations, coordi-nate its implementation and execution, plan educational

Son estudios que se apli-can tanto a bebés, como a jóvenes y a personas mayores con enfermedades como el alzheimer. Después de hacer estas prácticas me animé a seguir en el mundo de la investigación y a darme cuenta de que aún hay mu-chos campos del mundo del lenguaje por descubrir que se pueden aplicar a problemas del lenguaje, o incluso a enfermedades.”

Uno de los puntos fuertes de los distintos depar-tamentos de la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras es la cantidad y calidad de las estancias en prácticas que se ofrecen a los alumnos, nacionales e internacio-nales. Como por ejemplo las prácticas que hizo María Segura en el BCBL, instituto que estudia el lenguaje en relación con el cerebro.

As part of the International Program, Irene undertook an exchange program at Hong Kong University in the first semester of their Third Year. They were at-tracted to this destination because of the cultural differences and learning opportunities, as well as the extensive opportuni-ties offered by an Asian country in terms of their professional future.

El Departamento de Filosofía de la Universidad de Nava-rra, junto con la Facultad de Comunicación, se ha pro-puesto ofrecer un programa formativo que combina lo mejor de la formación filosófica con las ciencias de la comunicación. Nuestras sociedades, cada vez más complejas, necesitan un nuevo ejercicio de la filosofía en estrecha relación con el periodismo. Los estudios del Doble Grado capacitan para ser un profesional del conocimiento, especialmen-te habilitado para ejercer funciones tanto en institucio-nes y empresas como en la docencia y la investigación.

The Department of Phi-losophy at the University of Navarra has worked with the School of Communication to devise a program which combines the best aspects of philosophical study with a training for work in the media. The increasingly complex societies in which we live require professionals who can bring a philosophical training to bear on the work of the journalist. This double degree equips students to become professionals in the knowledge society, working in institutions and compa-nies, as well as in teaching and research.

La facultad de Filosofía y Letras y la facultad de Derecho ofrecen, desde el curso 2013/2014, el doble grado de Filosofía y Dere-cho, siguiendo la tradición anglosajona donde el estudio conjunto de la filosofía y el derecho goza de una larga trayectoria. Entre los graduados de este tipo de programas se encuentran muchas de las figuras más relevantes de la política, la economía o la cultura con-temporáneas.

The School of Humanities and Social Sciences and the School of Law began offering the Double Degree in Philosophy and Law in the 2013-2014 academic year, in keeping with the long Anglo-Saxon tradition of jointly studying Philosophy and Law. The graduates of such programs include many of the leading figures in con-temporary politics, econom-ics and culture.

The double degree, which is taken over five years, gives Philosophy students a unique legal perspective that enables them to understand the society in which they live, and which they are required to reflect upon. It provides Law students with the basic conceptual tools required to go beyond laws that grant rights and help them under-stand the very foundations of law. Understanding the most radical topics of law makes it possible to acquire the critical distance required to renew, change and improve that same law in the different areas in which it operates: in court, notary offices, legal consultancy firms, parlia-ment, international organiza-tions, etc.
